This is one of the most perfectly crafted games I've ever had the pleasure to play. Everything I do is enjoyable and there's absolutely LOADS to do. I can't fault it anywhere.

And this is coming from someone that :

    1. Gets bored very easily and usually plays 12 hour games over the course of about 3 - 6 months. (I'm 30 hours into Persona after 4 days of ownership)
    2. Has never finished a JRPG in his life.

Glad that you're enjoying it. I echo your sentiments wholeheartedly.

Quick question for someone who's further than me:

Is cheating on your "girlfriend" in this version? I know they took it out of P3P. It could be important to know if it is since from I understand, it can be detrimental to your social links.

@ZizouFC Not really detrimental. I did it by accident. It was a cheer-up hug, not a romantic one, dammit! :p

I would be over the moon to hear Persona 5 is coming to Vita. I wouldn't really want to hog the tele for 100 hours in my house, it's a portable game through and through.

    Make it happen someone!

So Margaret tells me that if I create a specific persona in the forecast it will get certain bonuses. Unfortunately I have no social links in the related arcana so not sure if it's worth bothering with...

Am I right in thinking that after saving Yukiko I can't go grind while waiting for her to recover?. I went into the TV and wasted a afternoon because I couldn't leave the entrance.

Oh and Yumi Ozawa is leading the race for my heart, although I think I'll be predictable and go for Yukiko when the opportunity arises.

The bastard thing about digital instruction books is I can't bring one to work and get paid while I immerse myself in it. Is it worth giving up some precious evening play time to read through the instructions or is everything spelled out nicely as I go along?

You don't really need instructions in games these days, digital or not.

So wait for a forecast that does work for you? I've started planning mine a bit better now. I know that tomorrow the forecast will give me extras, and there's a strength persona I want to fuse. So today I'm going to the coffee shop to get a persona ability off one of my current and stick the ability on one of the fuse personas, tomorrow I'll do footy practice to increase my strength social link and then in the evening I'll do my fuse and get the bonuses.

P.S I have no idea if the above is a spoiler but spoiler'd it just in case.

Won't bother with it then. Shame in a way, I still have some very fond memories of not being allowed to play any more as a kid so I'd go off to my room to "do some reading" of the instruction books while imagining what I'll do next. Nintendo manuals were just the best.

@Murbal There's a handy arcana chart in the back pages of the manual. No idea how handy but it will possibly be useful during fusions (though I recall trying to follow a similar one in P3 FES and it was absolute rubbish :p)

Am I supposed to try my own combinations when fusing Personas or is the "search" option all I need?

You can try but it will always tell you what you'll get as a result before you fuse it.

I'd also cancel the fusion (i.e. press cancel before you actually do the fusion) and retry the same one if it's not to your liking. Sometimes, different skills get passed on (though again, this happened on Persona 3 - not tried in Persona 4 yet)

I loved manuals back in the day and it's sad to see game manuals and instruction booklets falling to the wayside. Game booklets used to be half the fun and were collectible thanks to their stunning art and yes the Nintendo booklets were always the best.

Are cafe skill cards special in some way or can you also obtain them from dungeons? Wondering if I should always register the cards I get if that's the only way to get them

@Gregolution As far as I know all skill cards (or maybe not the ultimate ones?) are obtainable from dungeons. But if you're after a specific skill that you can get from the cafe then go for it as you could easily spend many hours in the dungeons without getting the card. I say from experience. :p

Getting close to where I got up to on my stolen ps2 version now. But how do I get the fishing rod? Doing my head in.

Defeat is not getting knocked down, but refusing to get back up.

@OmniaVincitAmor Old guy by the river. Need to have given the item shop lady a bug for her fish when she's open as a bar at night to get the hook.

Can someone tell me what the deadline date was to rescue Yukiko? I fear that I've rushed things and performed the rescue at least a week early.

I did the same. Had loads of time to do other stuff afterwards and eventually was able to go grind a bit and defeat a "strong" shadow (the King shadow thing).

Is it a bad thing to complete things early? I wouldn't think it would be.

    A question for Persona veterans:

In P3P you climb the dungeon floors and can continue from where you left off when you come back. Is it the same in P4? I've only been to the dungeon twice (first time to get Yukiko , and the second time it made me start from the first floor and get to floor 8(?) to where Yukiko was before to fight the strong shadow.

Also, is using the escape item the only way to return to the entrance?

@ZizouFC Yep, I'd rather get it out the way early personally. I never left it to the end of the period. You can then do other things without any worry. :)

The dungeons are separate. If you are in one and use an escape item (there is also an escape skill for Personas) you can to back to same floor. However, if you complete that dungeon you can only start from the bottom floor the first time you revisit (if you escape from a higher floor you can go back to it as before). For the reason you mentioned. ;)

@OmniaVincitAmor Now you're testing my memory! I think you get it from the little boy in the shrine area.
