So basic rule is always register the highest level of any given persona? Then if I fuse it I can get the original back for some sort of fee? Or does the registration get destroyed when I fuse?

Yes. Price for the Personas bought from your compendium (where they go when registered) goes up with level/awesomeness of Persona in question.

You also get bonuses (and trophies) for filling the Compendium.

I happily did the hand holding first two hours last night, but my god it got its hooks in today. I took my daughter to primary school today, got home and sat down for a quick hours play before getting down to the nitty gritty of getting my small business (rl) off the ground.

I looked up at the clock, and realised I had to get ready to pick my kid up from school. It was 5 and a half hours later. O_o

I'm going to seriously have to ration this one or I'm going to be destitute. Between this and Ni No Kuni my love of jrpgs has been completely rekindled. I still have issues with the whole teen/school setting but it's just done so well.

I have to get this digitally as no shops are stocking it in my country :(

I'm gonna have to delete a whole bunch of stuff...

Hehe! Loving them both. I've actually been playing NNK with my kid, and it's been a genuine delight (but then my tag would indicate that's highly likely in my case anyway :) ). Perfect game to get them away from Moshi Monsters and into a completely different level of gaming. =)

When she's quite a few years older I suspect p4g'll be mandatory play for her too.

Tried the SoS button for the first time last night. Seems you only get requests when you press it as well as buffs. Is that right? I got a couple of messages when I headed to the final boss fight at the end of the first huge dungeon. Seemed fairly helpful buffs. Still not sure how the messages work. I.e. who sees which of my custom messages?

My daughters are enjoying Ni No Kuni; I feel guilty wanting to play without them as my eldest wants to name the familiars :-)

On topic though - love Persona 4. The strategy behind the fusing, the challenging combat, the great characters...

Have just rescued Yukiko. Top stuff.

Hoping my preorder of it comes through today, I need to get as much of his cleared as I can before my new sewing is delivered in a few weeks. Don't wanna be itching to sink 80 hours into this when I should be learning how to use it :D

Hooks are well and truly in. I spent the first 15 minutes at work describing the game to my colleague.... I think he considers me a weirdo now....

From my playthrough, the HP/MP boost I got from SOS would never have been enough to save me if I had genuinely been in trouble. But then maybe I was playing out of sync with most Americans. :p

but he has no insides! Did you mention Margaret and the Velvet room? Did you tell him they all still go to school? Did you mention the grizzly murders?

Bah. He sounds like the strange one to me ;-)

Hehe. Yeah It wouldn't have been a complete lifesaver, but I reckon it saved me a medicine or two. :)

So I'm in my first dungeon and I can see that you have the option to get out after you unlock a new level (finding stairs) and get straight back to where you left off.

Is that a common thing to do? I have picked up my first few persona cards and I'm dying to get back to that freaky velvet room and do my first fusion! hahaha I LOVE THIS GAME.

(Oops... control yourself Greg, you're an old man now)

So yeah...do you split dungeons up across days if you have enough time before fog?

Yep you don't have to do it all in one go, just make sure you do it before the fog arrives! :)

@Gregolution What Humperfunk said, but just to note that you don't need to leave completely and come back another day if you just want to visit the Velvet Room. :) It allows you to go back into the dungeon.

    @santashi

Ah yes good point, I even saw the door when I went in - now I remember.

This is a prime example of why I love this JRPG. Aside from all the game mechanics and addictive joy of persona (pokemon!?) collecting, there are a lot of beautiful shortcuts to get around. I hate being bogged down in boring replaying of areas etc. Maybe I'm wrong and it will get a lot more boring later but so far I've enjoyed the focus on play and not travel etc.

@Gregolution On a side note, I always did the dungeon in a day when possible to free up time for social links. :)

Started this today on a crowded train home. And it started with a cut scene of a buxom blonde in a bikini under a waterfall advertising a soft drink. I didn't know where to put my face.

Otherwise an excellent start; the game has such a high level of polish and looks fantastic on the vita's screen. Think I'll finish this first and go back to p3p later.

So that thing where you all combo attack together in combat... Why does it ask if you want to do it? Why would you ever pick no?

Also I remember being told that I'd get better rewards if I did well in combat. What defines doing well?
