That would be the final straw for me. It's hard though I know, especially for a pet you've had for years and do love.
Well, since she also pisses and spews up on her stuff occasionally, I don't mind it too much, but it needs to stop. He's just neurotic, has abandonment issues. I've decided to embark upon a combined programme of making sure I give him lots of love every day and spraying him in the face with a plant mister when I catch him befouling the house. I can't give him to someone else. He's our problem, we need to deal with him.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

Sorry to hear about your cat local. You looked into external help? Where I live there are animal behaviourists that people swear by (always thought it sounded daft but results speak for themselves).

What about a calming collar? They're supposed to help with marking and whatnot.

Bag of catnip might help. Keep kitty slightly spaced-out.

John Bishop. Does anyone actually find him funny? I remain unconvinced they do.

Some of his stories are nice to listen to and can get a chuckle out of you, but very funny or hilarious...?

    Nope.

I don't hate John Bishop but I wouldn't choose to watch him.

Cat is neutered, yes. Unfortunately we have a lot of strays in the area so we get a lot of territorial pissings outside the house and he's picked up the habit from them. I'm hoping he'll calm down once he gets used to the baby, and the new double glazing should stop the stray smell getting into the house as much. If he can't sort his shit out I might look into seeing a behavioural specialist. We've had him checked by the vets for any medical problems but there aren't any. Also tried Feliway. No change. He's not good with collars, so not sure about a calming collar.

Baby adores him though, and I think once she's older he'll get all the attention he wants and more, so maybe it'll sort itself out. I hope.

This might sound a bit stupid, but try putting his basket or bed up somewhere where he (comfortably & accessibly) looks down on you. Maybe he just needs convincing that he's the top cat in your house.

The ultimate by-product of the last few years of shitty "observation comedy".

He's constantly 2 jokes away from "so, how about those airplane peanuts eh, eh?"

    Haha, good point :)

It's commendable that you're going to persevere, but it's also sad that I felt the need to type that, knowing that many people would just abandon him as being too difficult.

Either way, I think a solid mix of love and misted spray will work wonders ;)
