Exactly. Such. Bizarre piece of casting.
The new ones would be bearable if it weren't for Hayden whatsiface. He is almost as shit an actor as Daniel Radcliffe. -

Registered 7 years agoTo be fair, there are a lot of decent actors in the prequels who absolutely stink the place out. Its more due to poor direction and him having to spout some of the worst dialogue in cinema history than him being a bad actor.
Everyone looks shit in this; mcgregor, portman, l. jackson and so on are all decent actors but, to a man, they are horrible in these.---------------------------------------------------------

We don't talk about the prequels in my house. Still too painful.Playing all the right notes— but not necessarily in the right order.

"It's got nothing to do with Hayden Christensen, he did a fine job with the material given to him. He's not a bad actor kids, leave him alone. Even Sir Lawrence Oliver couldn't read these shitty lines."
It's odd that people singled him out for criticism when basically every single aspect of the prequels was terrible. I guess people just love Vader that much huh? -

This is true, but it's amplified when it's a bad actor as well. On a related note, is 2 nd a half too soon to introduce to Star Wars? My son loves the couple of figures I have and wanted to watch it. Got 15 mins in before I got a stern telling off. It's a U ffs!

Registered 7 years agoIve had similar discussions, its a U but has adult themes with people killing each other and whatnot.
Funnily enough, today was the first time CHILD R watched a star wars movie and its fair to say she was absolutely bored shitless. She had heard all about star wars from the boys from school and was really revved up for it but as soon as they started jiving on about galactic senates, trade federations and all that shite, she just tuned out and played with her ponies. Its probably quite telling that the thing she enjoyed most in the entire film was when c3po got his head switched.
Although, to be fair, all the feedback ive had from my mates say more or less the same thing. The clone wars cartoons are the way forward, for obvious reasons and engage small kids far more than the films.---------------------------------------------------------

Registered 8 years agoYea as nick says, everyone was bad. Natalie Portman was terrible, Ewan McGregor was terrible, Samuel Jackson was actually embarrassing he was that bad. Can't really claim Hayden Christensen was any worse than those, I actually thought he did a better job than Jackson and Christopher Lee. He could have been a great Anakin, had these films been any good. I don't think he's a bad actor at all but I guess we'll never know now that George Lucas has ruined his career. It's not his fault he was asked to play an emo retard. I suppose he could have turned the role down. The only one that worked was Ian McDiarmid, and that's because the Emporor is a comic book villain anyway.

Because there's rarely any death in sport, it's just people being active, generally on a nice green background. I know it's all just colours and sounds and shapes to her right now, but I feel guilty about the violence she might witness. Also trying to avoid exposure to thneeds, so the screen goes off in any advert breaks.
Why just sport?
I was just musing. It's probably not a great idea. She watched Red Dwarf and got a bit hyper. I think Kryten freaked her out.Playing all the right notes— but not necessarily in the right order.

Registered 6 years agoI thought the big problem with Star-Wars I-III was Lucas? There were reports of massive control freakery, with Portman being told off for laughing about something and McGregor being warned about the terms of his contract for having the temerity to say during an interview that having to act in front of green-screens all day was boring. Don't want brand Star Wars being damaged in any way.
Having Yoda flog mobile phones is perfectly acceptable though. -

Registered 11 years agoThe big problem with all Lucas' films is George Lucas. I mean, have you seen THX-1138? Reportedly, there were enough experienced studio people on the set of at least the first few SW films who felt able to pull him up when he made a stupid decision that those films turned out reasonably decently. But now, because he is the Great Beard George who's technically got his name on some films that made a shit load of money that no-one was willing to point it out to him that he was making fucking awful films (also because, like you say, he's a massive immature control freak).Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

Registered 10 years agoSurely it is because that is where people stash all their valuables no questions asked. There is probably not one evil rich person who doesn't have something there. It's also a lovely place, who would want to ruin that if they are neutral anyway. I wonder if they still have stolen valuables from WWII hidden there.

Registered 6 years agoThat 4oD app on Xbox is starting to wind me up. Trying to watch Big Fat Quiz 80's and I had to sit through nigh on 10 adverts to start it. Now it has to show another 10 ads every 10 mins. I hate you 4oD app, I really hate you. Two or three ads fine...but 10!? Even normal tv isn't that bad. Grrr
I'm getting that angry that I couldn't find the random rants thread so it had to go here instead.Tell it to the cleaning lady on Monday.

Registered 11 years agoI'm pissed off with 4OD on the iPad, it is now no longer able to go to the TV via Airplay. I can see why Sky might want to disable this, to stop scamming bastards like me trying to stream Sky Sports on to the TV using their father-in-laws account, but 4OD is free!
Whatever, I'll just download it without adverts - take that Channel 4! -

Registered 11 years ago4oD on the computer is a bit odd. 7 ads to start, then seven each in the first couple of ad breaks, then it seemed to realise how ridiculous it was being, and gave me two empty ad breaks before settling back into 2 and 3 for the remainder.
Mind you, it's not as daft as youtube, which often decides to show me adverts after a moderately long video. Er, no thanks youtube. /closes tab.Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

Registered 8 years agoI passed a shop yesterday that used a suspicious amount of quotation marks. They sold:
"Fresh" "Oysters" (I suspect these were rancid bull testicles)
Locally Produced "Cheese" (whatever it is, at least it's really local)
"Black" "Pudding"
The thing is, it's a fishmonger, which makes that "Cheese" all the more intriguing. Has to be drugs, surely?

I punched a little 14 year old girl in the face pretty hard last night. Twice. It was in a kickboxing class and she was trying to kick me in the head so she kind of deserved it. I apologised the first time which seemed to enrage her. She was better at kicks than me as well. The second punch let her know not to fuck with me though
