No, its more the interaction of the anaesthetic and my heart that has got me worried. And hospital phobia in general.

Registered 8 years agoIt's quite unlikely though, isn't it? It's more likely your hand will need to go back to surgery for amputation due to it going septic post-op.Thanks for expressing interest in my signature!

It is Leicester (General I assume, or Royal?).

Last time I went to the Leicester General for a simple blood test and ended up with gangrene from a failed amputation of my finger...
On the plus side, it is nice and sunny here today so at least you can console yourself that it's a nice day for it

Registered 3 years agoYou lucked out then! It's only about 1 mile from me so I might come hang out by the entrance and whack you on the finger like a ninja while your anesthetic plays with your spatial awareness! -

Funnily enough, the prospect of losing my hand (or even just the finger) doesn't exactly inspire me with joy either. I've grown rather attached to it over the years.

On the upside, if it did happen I guess my expenditure on games would go down a fair bit.Now with 80% more Cthulhu!

Registered 7 years agoApparently the mortality rate in the field of Anaesthesia is about 1 in 500000 for low-risk patients.
Not sure where the heart condition puts you, but I think you'll be fine.

Registered 8 years agoWe’re proud to have some of the lowest rates of hospital-acquired infections, such as C.Difficile and MRSA, in the country; we have very good hospital standardised mortality rates, which is a good indicator of overall clinical quality; for the second year in a row the independent consumer group, Which? has rated our car parking in the top ten in the country; and our food has been rated as ‘excellent’ by an independent panel.
See? Very good standardised mortality rates. That means that only some people died. Not an *excellent* standardised mortality rate, but still pretty good. Thanks for expressing interest in my signature!

Registered 9 years agoAnd one fo the top 10 car parks in the country. That's not to be sniffed at. If I was going to croack it I'd want to at least do it somewhere that assures my loved ones won't have the added stress of not being able to dispose of their vehicle conveniently nearby. -

Registered 3 years agoThats quite an important point about car parks. When my wife had our first child. I must have spent over £30 in parking charges over 3 days. -

Registered 7 years agoI worked out that they lifted the barriers at the John Radcliffe after 8.30 or something so I just hung around until then.
And at the city hostpital in derby its cheaper to pay the 'fine' for losing your parking ticket than it is to pay for parking all day.---------------------------------------------------------

Registered 4 years agoYeah hospital parking is a nightmare at the best of times. And I could understand charging visitors, but patients and next of kin too seems a bit unfair - especially if they've been admitted.
Anyway, only an hour to go now. Just had the anaesthetist speak to me. Starting to really brick it now

Registered 10 years agoI nearly missed the birth of my son because of hospital parking. Nurse told me we had hours and it had all slowed down, so I went to move the car out of the emergency £5 every minute zone or whatever it was, and by the time i got back it had all kicked off again and she was about to have an emergency cesarean. -

Registered 3 years agoWhen we got into the car to take my newborn son home (child number 2) at 8:00pm at night, just as we were leaving, some drunk knocked on my window and asked for a lift. I said the car was full, which it was but I don't think he believed me. He then staggered off muttering "ffffuuuccckiinnng bbasssss.....".
Didn't think much of it at the time, but in hindsight it could have turned quite nasty.
If you are wondering what this has to do with hospital parking, it happened in the hospital car park! -

Registered 10 years agoIt's not an accusation. I just find what you said a bit offensive. -
It's irrelevant anyway. Gay people go dogging as well as cottaging.
