Had a little look at stadium, is it just a straight port over to the new engine? Nothing new at all? :/

I'm up for a game though, downloading the open beta on Steam at the moment.

@DUFFKING Pretty much. Looks much nicer, but complete lack of visual feedback on skidding/braking, still ridiculously easy/annoying to flip the car, and the menu system is still abysmal.

People sure as hell are rubbish at designing fun levels.
It's a race against the clock, yet people still seem to enjoy having sections that involve being perfect or having to start again.

I used to love multiplayer Trackmania but the Stadium Beta multiplayer is putting me right off.

Good tracks always take a little while to come through tbh. In the trackmaking community it's an unwritten rule that your track must be finishiable from every single checkpoint.

@DUFFKING In that case, they definitely aren't made by that part of the community. Nadeo should do multiplayer games using the best levels, because some of them are really really offputting.

@RobTheBuilder - I found this as well. I was getting half way round a course, crash, restart a checkpoint, and then utterly unable to pick up enough speed to make a jump without restarting.

Do people recommend canyon or stadium? I really enjoyed my time with the beta over the weekend and thinking of picking one of them up. Not too bothered about single player so would need one where the servers were busy (ish) still

@andytheadequate not sure on Canyon. But stadium in beta form at least is 90% as it was last time. There's the other one in beta soon, could be worth waiting for that

Been playing Stadium a lot, bloody love it, the "just one more go" is very strong in this game...

I would urge you all to try it especially as it is free (beta) or £7.99 on steam

After admiring from afar for a while, I've just picked up Trackmania Stadium to have a little look-see.

I went for the cheaper option of Stadium because the Canyon and Valley games seem a little expensive for what they are, or is it a case of "once you're in, you will lose hundreds of hours so stop moaning about the cost you massive pikey"?

Is it easy enough to setup Steam friends in the game so you get their ghosts (going for an Autolog style vibe) or is it entirely random?

Well, after spending an hour or two hunting down the golds (and even one 'beat the maker' time) in the A class events I think I've been bitten by the bug. It's a bit moreish, innit?

Slightly confused by the offer to go for an "official" time after I've attained the gold medal. Were my other times somehow unofficial? Strange.
