@acousticwilliam That is what is putting me off a hell mode run or attempting the mission which involves no herbs on easy. The Jill bits would be fine but the bits where you are in the warehouse with Quint and the Casino as Chris will be hard. Gonna get some Raid mode done first, what legendary weapons have people picked up? Got the long barrelled magnum and a powerful shotgun with low capacity called drake.

Juts finished this - thought it as great! Not up there with Resi 4 but a damn sight better than 5. 8/10

I've played this about 30 hours in total so far. I love Raid mode ,just wish I could unlock the rest of the characters.

...I also strangely wish that Rachael is playable.

I do like raid but a couple of minor things let it down. It's not easy to find a partner at your exact level so you can end up with someone too good. It's too important to spend time fiddling with your weapons so takes a bit longer then I would like between games. Apart from that it's excellent fun

@roz123 Just have the long magnum at the moment.

S ranked the first tier, difficulty pleasantly ramps up for the second and has made Raid Mode feel very fresh. Because of how great Raid Mode is, Resi is my most played 3DS game now, trouncing the time spent on Zelda. Very surprised by that.

@hypershadow I wish she was playable. The teaser (the one with the boobs) kind of implied that she would be. Well, until she was eaten...

Oh yes, forgot to mention. Had a go on Unchartered for Vita this week and have to say I think Resi on 3DS looks much better frighteningly - must be the anti-aliasing.

I played Wipeout and that Deviants game this morning and neither was visually stunning. Not really a leap above Resi, though I suspect that'll remain one of, if not the best, looking 3DS games in the library.

Me too! I hadn't played UC on Vita until I downloaded the demo, and after all the "Oooh, it looks like the PS3 game!" hype I was severely disappointed - it looks like a good Wii game, complete with jaggies. RE:R looks about a billion times better (no doubt helped by the smaller screen size).

I have to agree with the Uncharted: GA comments - I was expecting to be blown away by it, but I think Resi's ruined me! I mentioned earlier in the thread how surprised I was with RE:R's graphics, it's an amazing showcase for the kind of visuals the 3DS is capable of. Resi definitely looks smoother than U:GA (certainly in 2D), and has some nice specular and particle effects, but then Uncharted has some decent DoF effects. To be fair to Uncharted, I've only done chapter 1, but I think RE:R just got me used to graphics of that level on a handheld, dampening Uncharted's impact somewhat. I do think wipEout 2048 looks incredible though.

Back to the thread topic, I finished it a few days ago at just short of 13 hours and absolutely loved it. In fact I quite miss it since completing it! Raid is good, but due to its disconnected nature I have only done a handful of missions. It also made me download RE4 HD, which I've not played since its original GameCube release, and now I'm loving that all over again!

Played about 8 episodes of this and I'm amazed at how much I hate it. I even liked Resi 5, other than the shit inventory it was a harmless blast. This one is rage inducing though.

It's not at all like the early resis except for a few early episodes, and even they have their atmosphere ruined by the weird episodic jumping around between locations. It soon devolves to an action fest but with insufficient ammo. Killing the same boss over and over is not fun. Room after room of shooting hunters is not fun. Trying to work out where the hell I'm going underwater is not fun.

Another thing, it seems to drop ammo based on what you are carrying. I'm carrying the handgun because I want to save my good stuff till later, not because I want hundreds more handgun ammo.

The plot is also utter gash. The attempt at humour with the new characters is like some JRPG stomach churning nonsense.

On the bright side, selling it on ebay will mean picking up Kid Icarus for next to nothing :p

I wish i hadn't read the above. I've just had an email from amazon saying my orders been dispatched... I'm worried I've wasted my money now!

I'm xbox-less for next 3 weeks so was hoping this would keep me occupied. Did u really hate the game that much? Even the raid mode?

Well it's holding price, so it's never going to be a total waste regardless of what you think, you can always resell.

A lot of people have enjoyed it but for me, it's the worst Resi to date - and I've been with the series from saveless speed runs on Resi 1 till the Platinum trophy on Resi 5.

RAID mode is an interesting addition but is held back by the dull enemy design. I'm mainly annoyed at the campaign though. Not sure if I'll finish it.

@Gaol You are spot on about pretty much everything, it really is a massive disappointment.

It also has ridiculous "WTF?!" moments in the ending. Parker's death fall into burning wreckage only giving him a bit of a limp after he was pulled to safety by Carrot Top who was shot dead moments earlier?! Fuck off!

Cunt and Queef survive being bombed to shit, and walk out with just a little dust on them? Double fuck off for not killing those awful characters!

The only problem I had Goal mentioned was the over use of hunters in certain bits. I think only once I ran out of ammo and I enjoyed the story. My biggest gripe was they made it too necessary to manage your weapons in Raid mode which made it less enticing to jump in and have a long session. Other then that I thought it was excellent fun.

I've just been getting back into this, having bought it on release, but opting to continue playing Xenoblade (Seemingly the worlds largest game). In the end I gave up, accepting that I need to play something else to break things up a bit. Not to take anything away from Xenoblade. It's just huge.

Anyway... Originally I had only played the first 3 episodes, but tonight was my first attempt at Episode 4. It wouldn't matter if the rest of the game was awful, but that hour was the scariest hour of Resi i've ever played. That was some scary stuff. A brilliant boss, well executed. It very nearly kicked my arse too.

Sorry for the double bump, but I wanted to add my overall impression of the Campaign, having just completed it.

First and foremost, this is a massive improvement over Resident Evil 5. A far more engaging storyline, a more interesting environment, plenty more scares and plenty of tense moments. I also liked how the game starts of slow-paced and scary, and then builds into a more action-orientated finish. It keeps things from getting old, which helps as you explore the same environments a fair few times. The breaking down of the chapters into episodes didn't really seem that much different to the previous two games though. If it weren't for the story recaps, I wouldn't have noticed any difference.

The one gripe I did have with this game, and no i'm not talking about Quint and Keith, is that your partner is pretty much useless. At no point in the game did I feel my partner was contributing in anyway. They can't be killed and they don't seem to be able to kill any enemies. If they can harm them, they don't seem to be able to deal a great deal of damage. I can only imagine they existed for a co-op mode that was never completed. At least you don't have to rely on them as much as you did Sheva.

As for Quint and Keith, yeah they're annoying, but they don't really detract from the game as you only have to put up with them for about 20 minutes in total. Besides, their sections weren't bad to play through. I enjoyed the warehouse section as it felt more like the old Mercenaries mode.

I've yet to touch the Raid Mode. I'll probably start that tomorrow. But my rating for the campaign is a solid 8/10. Hopefully there is more to come!

Anybody wanting to play some co-op Raid mode sometime? Or has everyone else moved on?! I'm level 12, but I don't know if levels change between solo and co-op play.

    I'll stop posting now.

Unless you're left-handed, the CPP is totally unnecessary IMHO - the standard controls are more than fine. I mean, if I can beat Hell mode with them, anyone can!

I actually stopped using the CPP after 20 minutes. I much prefer the standard controls.

Edit - Didn't realise the CPP is going for 30 on Amazon now. That is nuts.

Don't get me wrong, I would never actually use the CCP, I just want it if it's free with something else. Yes, that makes absolutely no sense, but that's what I'm holding out for!

Digital Spy had an article up earlier that has since been "removed" indicating a new 3DS Resi is being made called "Downfall".

Interestingly it is rumoured to come with 2 movies as well as the game.

CVG have a small article on it if anyone is interested in digging it out.

It was noted on a few blogging sites, but no sources exist for the base of the rumour. Fitting two full movies on a cart with a game the size of Revelations seems massively unlikely, but a new Resi game is more than welcome. Considering it sold quite well, I imagine it's quite likely. Especially considering the engine is already in place and working amazingly well.

It looks incredible, but I wonder how much of that is down to the 3DS having such a low density screen and your mind sort of filling in the gaps. Rayman Origins looks atrocious next to the Vita version.

Just completed this today. It shows u should never listen to reviews cos i nearly avoided it after a couple of people slated it on here.

I really enjoyed it though and felt i fully got my moneys worth - it took me 13 hours to complete the campaign and I've only done stage 1 on raid mode.

I'm really hoping they do aother re game on the 3ds but go back to the traditional zombies. The end of revelations suggests one might be in the works i guess?

Anyway, a solid 8/10 from me

@waggy79 No I haven't got the circle pad pro and didn't have a single moment in the game where I thought I needed it. Once I got used to the controls I found it absolutely fine.

The reason I went for RE over MGS Snake eater was due to the Circle Pad Pro add on. I simply refuse to buy it!! But I actually think it would improve MGS after trying the demo. You definitely don't need it for RE Revelations though. The controls are great without it.

    Just completed this game. Finally!

+ The whole thing looked amazing.
+ 3D was well implemented and using the circle pad pro, it controlled very well (tried without too, but found the tank controls too uncomfortable on this angular little machine).
+Shooting things is always fun, and the underwater bits weren't quite as joyless as they are in most other games.
+ You get to play as a fat Spaniard.

    - Story, plot, characterisation, pacing, writing and voice acting are all terrible.
    - The baddies death 'tells' were not obvious enough for me.
    - Poor inventory management as per Resident Evil usual (although better than RE4 or 5)
    - Mapping herb to the A button was a mistake.
    - Could have done with being a couple of hours shorter (but I like short games).

    Overall, it scrapes a 7/10.

    NEXT UP: Fatal Frame! Woohoo!
