Telltale's episodic adventure game based on the comics is "coming soon", concept art and pretty impressive first screenshot here.

And a hi-res version of the screenshot.

Don't think much of Telltale, and this seems like a waste of a good licence. http://www.deadstate.doublebearproductions.com/ seems like TWD in everything but name, with scarce resources, other groups of survivors, etc.

    God another telltale game. :(
    They're all the same...what a waste.

Cue the 'yeah, it should be another COD clone' ironic comments.

Dead State looks like it could be amazing, but I dunno why I just get the feeling it's going to be massively disappointing. Maybe just cos I've hyped it up so much in my own head.

    Some news regarding this.

I might be on my own here, but i REALLY dont like Telltale. Their cartoony, episodic approach just doesnt work for me.

The fact that they have three outstanding licenses (Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, Walking Dead) is incredibly frustrating - i would love to see a BTTF game made with a similar style to Mass Effect or Uncharted.

The fact that Telltale have also said (regarding The Walking Dead) that their going to focus on "emotion and characterisation rather than action" is....well, just dull.

"The worst part is, I'll have to have the break-up sex with myself!"

That sounds good, the "emotion and characterisation" in Tales of Monkey Island was surprisingly great and unlike anything else I had played before.

Oooh the emotion and characterisation of T-Dog should be amazing if it's anything like the tv show.

It's based on the comics so there won't be a T Dog.

The BTTF games were flawed, but really quite good. Will check this out if it goes on offer.

Can I buy episode 1 on the PC seperately, or is it just the season pass?

Telltale games don't quite work for me either. They seem so much more contrived than the old Lucasarts games used to somehow.

Anyone taken the plunge on this? Wasn't sure how well it would work with the usual Telltale sort of point and click of game and the Walking Dead generally needing urgency to add tension, but I think it's quite good from the brief go I've had so far.

I like the idea of the story branching depending on your choices, and it'll be interesting to see how that plays out.

I don't know how far I'm though the first episode but I'm enjoying it quite a bit, I've only stopped for the footie. It's a bit more action based at times than most Telltale games but not too much. Nice to see a couple of familiar faces and a certain location too.

    So far, so good.

Think I just got the certain location you mentioned before I turned off to watch the football. I'm guessing each episode will be the standard 2 hours or so, so hopefully no more than a fifth of the way in.

Point and click is probably the only genre where I have never found a game that clicks for me.

Just played a bit more then and had I presume my first major decision to make - be interesting to see how much difference there'll be depending on which choice you take.

Might play through the episode again when I'm done and see. Having said that, with these sorts of games I do prefer to just have one crack at it (even if I do kind of regret the decision I've taken)

@jonsaan It's barely a point & click game really so far.

I've just finished the first episode after about 1 hour 45 minutes. I enjoyed it and thought it was pretty good overall, feeling very much like an episode of the TV series in terms of structure. The gameplay is very similar to Jurassic Park but this is more interactive, allowing you to actually move around (though not offering as much freedom as, say, Tales of Monkey Island). There are also five key choices you have to make which apparently affect future episodes. It's not perfect though, some of the dialogue is a bit naff and the game occasionally hitched for me even though on maxed out settings at 1920x1200 it bearly made my graphics card sweat (it ran at sub-50 C throughout). Visually it's nice and despite the comic book art style the gore still packs a punch.

My only real complaint is that the brief length of the game would suit a weekly release (again like a TV series) but having to wait a month between 2 hour episodes is not really ideal. Yes, you can replay the episodes and make different decisions and choices but ultimately it ends the same way regardless.

Took me just under a couple of hours and I'm fine with that, the decisions you make do obviously make a difference, as characters won't be around depending on your choices, so it'll be interesting to see how that pans out in future.

Also I know it won't happen as he's probably being set up as a serious pain in the arse but I really hope Larry dies sooner rather than later, what an arsehole!

Just finished the first ep. Took me 2 hours according to Steam, which is fair enough. Really enjoyed it though - the story is pretty good so far, and I like the different choices, so it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Stuck it on to see how it played, ended up playing the whole thing. Wasn't really sure what to expect, but it wasn't the QTE nightmare I expected :)

really enjoyed it, just don't like waiting 1 month per episode, might wait for the disc release.
