Four hours of fun from Dishonored + five hours of fun baiting revan8 = 9 hours total playtime! \o/
  • Deleted user 10 October 2012 17:00:48
I've watched 3 video reviews, each said it took them twenty hours and they immediately re started the game again to play through a different way. Because of this I will buy not rent, hate rushing.

Yeah but that probably includes lots of reading. If you read everything you find in these games you can pad out the length, but I don't count reading as gaming time. That's reading. They should make it clear that it's 4 hours' gaming, 16 hours' reading.

How much of that gaming is divided into watching and button pressing? Can we get a figure of how many button presses are needed? That's how I rank my games. Button press per pound spent.

It's not 4 hours gaming. Rushing through is around 8 hours, not 4. Reading everything probably accounts for around 2 hours at most. So if you take your time and do side quests you should get around 20 hours out of it.

Yeah, no doubt they have added a generic library which includes hundreds of books on the 'lore' of the world.

That'll take you a few hours to get through.

So in summary, sounds like a rent and a buy after if its good enough to be arsed to go through the generic side quests.

That's like a film is 8 hours if you watch it in slow mo then again with commentary then watch all the extras. No one wants to do that because its boring.

Are we factoring in reading the manual and/or strategy guide too?

The new JK Rowling novel is 75 hours long if you watch a Harry Potter movie after each chapter.

Probably. And time it takes to download updates.

Have you noticed how Blu-Ray movies always have the feature length as one minute longer because it takes an extra minute to load up a Blu-Ray player?

In a similar vein, the PS3 version of Dishonored is five hours.

Why would a four hour long game require a strategy guide?

How long are the developer logos at the beginning? Factor in number of times you load up the game and you could be looking at anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours of logo time, if they're unskippable and long.

I usually just start the clock when the retailer dispatches my copy.

This has the interesting statistical side effect that games I buy from Steam have considerably shorter campaigns than others, but that's offset by the observation that their stories tend to get going a lot quicker.

What an irritating twat you really are.

It's not like that at all, I'm actually playing the game and just doing all the quests takes a lot longer than 4 hours.

Are we going to have to get someone to explain every single post to you or are you going to continue with the angry aspie retard approach that you've settled into so easily?

@Dr.Haggard thanks! Just been reading up on the web, its not quite four hours but not far off.

Should be able to get it done within a rental period.

@LetsGo It's pretty depressing that this daft rumour that started because someone did a speedrun is actually putting people off buying the game.

The future of this kind of game hangs in the balance! Again!
