Really enjoying the game but as with crysis 2 can't help but feel I'm missing out on something. I just sneak around everywhere which makes it feel like a journey between waypoints with not alot of substance in-between.

    Still loving that journey though.

Pretend the RB button doesn't exist.

This should be the case but I can't because I know it's there. Seems an odd design choice in the way it's implemented.

Have they added achievements into this?

I fancy getting it to see how well it's ported but it's a lot of money when there's so much else on the way.

Sure have and they are now working after not being linked when first uploaded.

Nice. I could grab this and hold off on Rage for a bit...

I still have so much to play though...

Just checked and it's up on the 360 Marketplace now - think I'll grab it :)

Quick question though - Is it supposed to cost a bit more if you use MSP to buy it? It's quoting 1840MSP but it's only 14.99, which would convert to 1750MSP?

    Still downloading for me.. :/

Do think it quite a novelty that the time between hearing it was coming to consoles and actually arriving was admirably short, reducing spoilerage (and yes, I know that sounds odd for a 4yr old game!) Never played the PC version so I'm looking forward to this very much indeed.

    Edit:typo

I think i'm about halfway through now. Amazingly, it seems to be missing nothing from the pc game. The levels haven't been stripped down at all & i actually prefer the new control scheme. The visuals hold up amazingly well, the destructable environments are all in there & it runs at a fairly solid 30fps.

    Amazing achievement.

    Quick question:

Why is this on Games on Demand?

If I recall correctly, the criteria for a game appearing on GOD is that it has been released on Xbox in at least one territory, yes? And Crysis has never appeared on console. So:

    a) Have MS made an exception in this case?

    b) Was Crysis under the "Games for Windows" branding on PC (my memory says not, and given the differences to the engine and content I don't see how it would count as being the same game) and do GFW titles now count under the GOD policy?

    c) Has it had a retail release somewhere in order to qualify for the scheme?

Um, been hiding under a rock for the last two weeks? Both RE4 and Code Veronica have been released on the same service, and yet neither came close to an Xbox release, original or otherwise.

MS have clearly changed tack in order to give XBLA a bit of a boost, and possibly test the waters for future download only AAA titles.

Yeah we're moving towards all games being available to download. A Steam-like service will surely be a cornerstone of Microsoft's next console. Every single game will be available to download on the "720", I'm certain of that.

And then we can look forward to prices like the 57.99 for Driver San Francisco on PSN.

There's some serious graphical corruption when driving cars. Anyone notice this?

I was so surprised that Bulletstorm is only 19.99 on GoD, I almost bought it!

They were released at retail in Japan actually, specifically to qualify them for appearing on Games On Demand.

I actually pointed this out on the last page. Nice to know you read things before replying ;)

    /shudders

Anyway, got it eventually and loving it. Looks incredible, so if it's a step down from the PC version in any way then that must've looked truly astounding.

Forced myself to stop after the first level though, holding off until I'm done with Rage (hopefully here this week). Don't want FPS overload, and am more in the mood for a faster paced shooter anyway. I got the feeling that me charging about through the shrubbery with the shotgun and armour ability was probably not the best way to play the game, as the numerous deaths pointed out to me! Saving it for the December lull where I can dedicate a bit more time to it.

Can barely believe that Crysis 2 (which I loved) is part of the same franchise. I can see why some of the PC hardcore were a bit pissy at the percieved 'dumbing down', as it feels like a totally different game. Makes the first look like a corridor shooter.

So, um, the 360?...... Can it run Crysis?

    Why yes. Yes it can.

Crysis 2 was a massive fucking backwards step compared to the first.

I remember Crytek at the time saying it was impossible to replicate the open-world nature of Crysis on consoles as an excuse for why Crysis 2 is basically a linear corridor shooter.

I will, I'm just curious about the anomaly that's all. If it signals a change in policy from MS then it could be big news to developers who can't afford regular distribution costs.

They weren't released in Japan just to "qualify" them. MS can authorize the release of any game they feel like on their Games on Demand service, and they would have sold RE 4 and RE CVX as downloadable 360 titles in the West whether or not Capcom released a 360 version of the disc-based Biohazard: Revival Selection in Japan.

That might be true, but it's certainly not the impression they gave at the time.

... and a slap in the face to retailers.

I think there may well be a bit of a shitstorm to erupt as a result of this. It's not like a HD remastering of two RE games. This is Crysis, a true AAA game. I think they'll be hugely pissed at the lack of a physical release, as it would likely be a big seller.

A budget remake of a 4-year old PC game would be swamped at retail by Battlefield, COD, etc. It's EA who have decided to only release the game as a download for 360 and PS3, and the retailers aren't going to care.
