I found Crysis rather boring and just used it for benchmarking purposes. Honestly there are better fps already available on console. It'll be interesting to see Crysis running on console, though, and maybe the 360 version won't have mental grain glitching weirdness this time.

It's great fun if you enjoy being chased by helicopters and being spotted a 1000 miles away.
-
It's great. 10 times than the run-of-the-mill sequel in absolutely every respect imaginable except the suit controls. Easily one of the top 5 shooters of the last 10 years.

Folk seem impressed at its open world seemingly oblivious to the fact that most of this 'open world' holds no gameplay opportunities whatsoever. Crysis 2 is the better, significantly more fun game.

Registered 11 years agoFor the most part Crysis is much better than the sequel, at least until the mountain and then it's pretty much the same game.
Having a lot more freedom at taking objectives rather than being told when you've got three or so options that are pretty much the same is nice and of course fighting Koreans (speaking in Korean) > Cell. This space left intentionally blank.

I loved Crysis and Warhead, but just tried to play the sequel now and it really is very mediocre by comparison. -

Boring, cheating nonsense of a game.

Registered 11 years agoYeah if only Crytek kept the enemies as humans in all their games, Far Cry was great until the muties too. This space left intentionally blank.

Registered 8 years agoCrysis standalone is good, but very short. Treat Crysis + Warhead as a complete experience, and it's a lot better.
The main Crysis game was soured somewhat by the fact that they didn't bother optimising the aircraft carrier bit for Radeon cards and it ran like a dog for me.
The aliens don't ruin Crysis like the mutant monkeys ruined FarCry. -
Yea it would actually bsod Radeon cards. Crytek are not known for fixing little things like that. The new DX11 patch for Crysis 2 has the old 24Hz bug from DX10 Crysis. That just blows my mind...

I don't remember Crysis being particularly short? As far as FPS single-player games go, it was one of the longest games in recent memory, surely?

Registered 7 years agoI spent ages on the game, but I guess if you just default to speed, ignore most of the combat and just run to each main objective you could knock the game over in a few hours. -

I thought the aircraft carrier was the part where the story would kick off, I thought the game was about to really get going, then the credits rolled! Had to check online to see if I'd missed something, although that was partially because the last boss made up a large part of the pre-release footage, so I assumed that wasn't just it. Didn't bother me much, I only paid a fiver for it on Steam, but had I spent £30-40 on a console version I'd have felt short changed.
Good game though, very memorable. -

Registered 8 years agoA very different game to the second. Open-world, far more tactical. Will be improved by the Crysis 2 style controls, too. But personally, I prefer the second game. Don't quite understand this lust for in-game freedom. -
So, it's PSN, Games on Demand/XBLA only. How much do you think?
