    Link above

tbh i saw this coming, i knew there would be some kind of bullshit illness this douche had and i still have no sympathy .

I mean this is nothing like the Gary McKinnon case where it was just out of his curiosity, yes he was wrong to hack, but he done no harm intentionally and just wanted to find things out.

But this group has gone out of their way to mess things up, whether he has this "syndrome" or not, i don't think it should matter in court as he was completely aware of what he was doing.

Hasn't it already been proven that he isn't connected to Lulzsec?

If it kept Gary McKinnon from being deported after hacking the US military it's bound to keep this scrote out of jail for messing with some music websites.

Why is 'has asperger's syndrome' in quotes on that link?

Surely it's the intention behind it though? The argument with McKinnon was that he wasn't trying to be malicious, just that he was inquisitive. Whereas the charges against Cleary are actual malicious intent.

I'm sure his lawyer will say he was being inquisitive as to whether he could hack into a place and whether the tools he was using would work.

I copied the title directly from the BBC website, i felt it was just better to show what it said in the link.

I also think it highlights being in quote marks the kind of 'hmmm' attitude that i felt when i read it lol

True, but the release of hundreds of thousands of private documents whats the excuse for that?

Inquisitive to see if people would be interested in peoples private details?

I hope he has sane jurors and gets whats coming to him.

He's fucked, this excuse won't wash and it's already coming off as a little desperate.

Ask him if he rides buses, it's a foolproof test.

It's a quotation of what was said in court and therefore not a statement of fact.

    This space left intentionally blank.

Well this wasn't predictable. He probably does tbh don't see how it should be used to mitigate anything though.

I think they've proven he isn't the mastermind behind Lulzsec, but he's clearly related to them somehow. He may just have downloaded stuff off them - IIRC we know he did that much. They've accused him of running a chat server some of Lulzsec is using, but I didn't think there'd been any public developments on that front yet.

The way his mum talked about him being a strange boy who never left his room in one of the first interviews made it pretty likely this was the way they'd play it. Either relations are very strange in that house (strange even for someone looking after an Aspergers kid IMO) or they've been angling for this from the start.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

His lawyers can successfully argue that he does have Asperger's if they can provide sufficient evidence. An interview with his mother showed that he was a complete social introvert, which is one symptom. If they can also prove that hacking was something he was fascinated with (homebrew, books, internet history, etc).

Not saying he has the condition, just pointing out that a savvy (and well payed) lawyer could successfully argue the case.

He's also got agoraphobia. This reminds me:

I was walking in Edinburgh when I saw a piece of graffito which read, 'Fuck the polis.'

I was puzzled, What could the average Scotch hooligan possibly have against the Greek city-state?

Even if they could, so what?

My stepson has Aspergers and if he did anything like this (which he wouldn't as he's not a moron) I'd fully expect him to be prosecuted, and I'd support it.

Asperger's is absolutely a real condition - we deal with it every day. Fuckwits like this make it harder for everyone else though.
