Pete, it does. I've smelt plenty of skunk, both of the flora and fauna type. The smell is incredibly similar. I think you're just having me on, tbh.
    No I'm not, promise!

It's just that I know the Stella bottle smell I'm talking about, and it smells lovely. Just like a nice citrusy sativa weed.

I don't know what skunk's arseholes smell like but if it's "rotten eggs, garlic and burnt rubber" then it doesn't smell like either the Stella smell or the actual weed smell

    ANYWAY

Word to the wise, a cheap beer that has recently started appearing in corner shops which is worth a try - Keller. Nice matt silver tin, 5%, for a quid per can. And it's surprisingly nice! Less fizzy than other tinned lagers I've had

My local shop does 8 Stella for 5.90.

    It's like being a kid (18, officer) again :)

The day charity died - NEVER FORGET

I wouldn't have thought the two smell similar, the animal and the plant. Skunk weed doesn't smell bad and I thought the whole thing with the animal is that it smells awful.

The smell is very similar, but the strength not so much. It's the power of a real skunk's spray that makes them so hideous. The up-close smell of skunk is a different beast but the wafting from a distance smell is damn near identical to some strains of weed and beer that's shit. Close enough for two other different smells to be commonly described as skunk.

It is disconcerting to drive along the road where a skunk has let off and have a craving for getting stoned. Never had one for a bottle of Stella though :)

Since moving to the cheap end of the fashionable east end, I've been drinking loads of Polish beer. Lech is the current fave, the cans have golf-ball dimples in the side to top you dropping them when pissed! Other than that, Tyskie is pretty nice too, though a trifle sweet for my taste.

Had some Dark Star light ale in Exeter last week. It was so hoppy that me mouth nearly turned inwards. Nice, but jeezy chreezy it needs a warning label or summat.

I really think I need to visit the brewshop tonight on the way home. See what they've been up to of late.

Lech is a damn tasty Polish beer that costs 3.50 on Chancery Lane and 85p in my local Polish House Of Awesome (supermarket).

Also available in this House Of Awesome are sheep's heads for 3.95, every kind of offal fresh from every kind of animal, juniper sausage that looks like a cross section through a particularly juicy ham, and headcheese in jelly (no idea). All good with Lech.

Oh, and Wodin's Shades on Bishopsgate is the best pub ever. Rotating amazing beers (including St Peters on hand pull, first time I've ever seen that) and bowl of calamari for 2.

    Regular lunchtime haunt.

Aye, there are some deeply suspect products in most of the locals marts round my way. That said, paprika crisps are the best.

Could have done the lunchtme pintage today, but proofreading pissed is not a pleasant experience. I am now officially gagging for a pint. Only an hour to go.

    Christ.

I'm sure it's actually very nice but that name sounds as though the main ingredient is phlegm harvested from TB-inflicted elderly.

If it helps any, it's pronounced 'lek'.

It doesn't say that though does it? Just says clear isn't a good idea.

I bought some of these last weekend and it wasn't half bad. Thank you for the recommendation.

Oh and reading the first post in this thread, to follow a theme of awful beers, today's choice was Heineken!

Sometimes wish I could get to London easier as it's great for beer these days - over two dozen breweries in the city now.

I love lunchtime beer. Especially when it turns into afternoon beer. And then early evening beer.

Afternoon beer. French fries and mayo. Christmas. Lovely.

There's a box of very nice beer on the table behind me, bought as a present for my father-in-law. The temptation to crack one open is almost unbearable.

Tempting, but bit tricky to try a bit and then force the bottle tops back on ...

We stocked up the fridge with a bunch of winter ales yesterday, even though I'm currently on a no-beer kick because it's been giving me terrible heartburn.

But they're calling to me as we speak.

And it's only quarter-past eight in the morning.

This must be what fruit feels like every minute of the day.

Adding bleed to a 28 page brochure on my fifth beer, it's not gonna turn out well is it?
