Dunno why. First kick starter I've ever backed, don't really believe in them. But it does look totally ace.
Yup I'm the same, the more I read and thought about its possibilities the more excited I've gotten. I mused on changing to the $225 tier for the second controller and engraving, but then stopped myself, partially cos it doesn't make so much sense to drop that much on a "whim" buy but mostly as I suspect to be taxed when it finally arrives, which is going to be less of a pain at 99 dollars :)

$946,814 so far, god knows what it was when I bought in but its not half shifted since then.
I _think_ you need to add on an extra $20 to your pledge to cover postage too... I wasn't sure so I did anyway.

Yeah you do. They'll then send you an email at some point in future to confirm shipping address and what username you want.

Hopefully you can pay for delivery afterwards, only bid $100!! Bloody easy to pay as well, especially as it links to your Amazon account.

Give yourself £5 or ½ gig, you're worth it.

Yeah I did the same, what I meant was that if it ends up eventually coming from the states theres a chance of it being stopped on the way in to have VAT imposed on it, which would be less at $99 then $225 plus whatever gods awful fee the post office chucks on it for giggles.

Course it would be moot if they are shipped from within the EU, but since I couldn't find (or be arsed to look for) info one way or another I'd thought safest way was to leave the original pledge at $119 and not get caught up in the excitement of new shiny :)

[edit] Blimey and 5k short of a cool million already :)

Heh, I was reading about Ouya on hackernews and pretty much everyone thinks it's a worthless piece of crap thrown together by people who don't know what they're doing.

Seems like they'll have around $3m-$5m to work out what they are doing. A lot of interest and goodwill too. I presume they are banking on Tegra 3 getting cheaper once the ARM A15 chips are out. 8GB does seem a bit small but the USB port may help.

Based on the specs it sounds like they've taken my old HTC Hero and added an HDMI port to it and controller.

Only thing interesting about this is it might call Apple's hand with this whole console malarky; if only so they can play with their shiny aluminium abortion tools again. Nice effort though.

I've long since removed the blind cynic and brand loyalist parts of my personality so for 70 quid I'm willing to give it a shot.

Worst case it falls on its arse and I'm down a night out, best case it might shake up consoles a little and allow for indie devs to utilise consoles with more ease than currently. Certainly mobile app stores seem to have changed gaming in recent years, whose to say this doesn't.

Terraria, Minecraft, Towns, Xenonauts and the Kairosoft games have provided me with the most hours of gameplay in the last 18 months, over and above consoles and more resource intensive PC games, and I did not expect that. I think $100 is a fair gamble to back something that may help get me some indie fun in front of the TV as well.

I'd never back a project like this without some form of proven track record by the makers.

Also, 18k (at the time of writing) backers is a lot for a Kickstarter, but fuck all in terms of console/software sales. This isn't going to convince Sony/MS of anything.

Well the co-creator of the Xbox is one of the consultants working on the project, as is the designer of the Jambox and the guy behind the hundred dollar laptop. And a load of industry veterans.

    I'd say that's a proven track record.

They should probably mention that on the Kickstarter page! It only mentions the Jambox guy.

Borrowed from the Steam sales thread:

Defense Grid 2!!! in kickstarter bid. (I know it's not about low prices, but the first one and it's expansions seemed to get a lot of support from Steam users who might be interested. :) )
I thought it might get lost in the talk of summer sales so hopefully it'll get more attention here.

Wow and looking at the rewards they've sold somewhere in the region of 27,000 consoles, not bad at all. Should be interesting to see how it pans out. Also it has it's own thread now, I'm not going to tell people where to post though :)

Doesn't seem to have been noticed by the EG news team yet. And yes I know what a lot of you are thinking "yikes! Not another kickstarter".

But do watch the video. It looks like a FANTASTIC 2D platformer. Art style as well as play mechanics are to die for.

There's a Giana game on iOS. It's nothing special, and this doesn't interest me eithe-

the composer of the original Giana music, Chris Hülsbeck, has joined us for Project Giana.

    Holy fucking shit! *signs up*

Call me stupid, but I just signed up to the 1Q speaker. Looks lovely, haven't had a chance to listen to the video though so no idea how good it will be. The companies previous speakers all seem to be well received though.
