There's another chance to get in on Us and the Game Industry - They're looking for some more cash to finish the project, iirc they only just made the first goal so perhaps they underestimated the amount needed, it looks good though. For those that don't know it's a documentary about a number of developers including That Game Company (Journey).

Telikos Protocol - Sci-Fi comic, looks good.

    Android-based console.

    Free games. "Hacker" friendly. $99.
Quite like the idea of this.

I was just reading about that one on Engadget, it's an interesting concept that could become a standard for android games. If I wasn't poor I think I'd go for one of the early bird rewards which will no doubt be sold out within minutes. That could be a problem for them though, given that they want $950,000 and the rewards below that are a bit poor.

I'm in for a console, they're almost gone already...

I'm kind of hoping they do sell out before I give in and go for one.

Nice work. This seems to be moving pretty fast. I'll buy one (or two) if/when they get it out I'd say, it seems just the thing to connect to various things. Like an upscaled version of Raspberry Pi for lazy people.

Looks like they added another tier including the console for $99. I don't know about my learned friend, but I've buckled considering thats only 70 quid in real money (including postage).

I highly doubt the Ouya people will reach their target with the current rewards in place. The $95 and above rewards would only generate around $550,000-max. So they're going to need to find around $400,000 from the unlimited rewards. That's a lot of money, and they'd have nothing worthwhile left to give away in exchange for that money. To put it another way, they'd need around 16,000 people to buy into the $25 reward. I don't see that happening.

Surely the $95 and $99 rewards alone would net them $590,000, they have a couple more that would generate $200,000 each (the 20x 10,000 and 200x 1,337). Given they've got 3 backers for 10k I'd not write them off yet.

Either way, best of luck to 'em, its the only Kickstarter so far which has managed to eke my money off me.

[edit] Thinking about it though, without the "newer" $99 tier it certainly looked less likely if thats what you were looking at Asha

You're right. I think I missed the $99 reward level from my calculation.

In that case, it's almost certainly going to get funded. And good luck to them, it looks like a really neat little system. I'm tempted to get one just to use as an XBMC box.

I know its not a Kickstarter because I live in the UK, but I've just started an IndieGoGo fundraiser at http://www.indiegogo.com/ProjectToxic to raise a little bit of money to start a new video game web show. I'd love it it you at least took a look at the video and page after I spent the last week preparing the project.

It's only just began and there's still plenty of time left but I'd like to get the ball rolling ASAP. I'd really appreciate if you could just take a minute to look at the proposal and share it on whatever social media site you can. I'd also be happy to answer any questions you have about it.

    Thanks

My thinking too. Its worth 70 quid to cock a snook at the present console business model too, I could see me ditching the current boxes to replace with this for couch gaming and just use the PC upstairs.

Penny Arcade are having a go, as the funding increases they'll remove more and more ads from the site.

    I've gone for a $99 as well

Dunno why. First kick starter I've ever backed, don't really believe in them. But it does look totally ace.

I'm seriously tempted to fork out on the $99 option. The whole concept really is brilliant. If it takes off I can see indie devs flocking to it in droves given the horror stories you read about having to deal with all the ridiculous licensing and approval issues on other platforms.

At the very least, as others have said, it will be an emulation dream machine.

    Fecking hell.

    They're already over $900k!

I wonder if they add more stuff or upgrade the specs if they keep getting more money.

Yup I'm the same, the more I read and thought about its possibilities the more excited I've gotten. I mused on changing to the $225 tier for the second controller and engraving, but then stopped myself, partially cos it doesn't make so much sense to drop that much on a "whim" buy but mostly as I suspect to be taxed when it finally arrives, which is going to be less of a pain at 99 dollars :)

$946,814 so far, god knows what it was when I bought in but its not half shifted since then.

I made a pledge (I wont say how much).

It will be interesting to see what stretch goals they come up with. Higher specs? Some sort of achievement system? Expanded storage capacity?

Why have I just bought a console?!

Just realised they've (probably very sensibly) upped the $99 quota from 5000 units to 10,000. I'd expect at least another $400,000 from those if it keeps going at this rate.

    Because it's awesome!

I hope this sends a loud clear message to Sony, MS and Nintendo about open environments in consoles.
