Man alive I've had a nightmare installing ML on my MBP. Work iMac? Piece of piss. Home iMac - similar. MBP? It's been about 10 hours now and I've still not managed to do a clean install.

I think some of the problem is years of accumulated cruft (hence the desire to do a clean install), plus the disk was encrypted, plus I'm not doing it from the App store since work gets Apple updates for free. Anyway - I give up for the weekend. Safari does seem nice and fast though!

Anyone know what might be wrong with my Safari?

Looks like something's stopping the stylesheets from loading. Have you disabled them?

Disabled? I havent done anything with Safari...ever :) I just wanted to see what the fuss is about the new version.

It says in the settings 'None selected" for style sheet, under Advanced, but there is no suggested ones to use.

Just a leeetle bit pissed off right now, as it turns out all my printers are gone.

Smaller niggles: it activated the US keyboard by default and deactivated the ones I had active before, then refused to let me turn it off. It changed my time zone to California, for some reason. Wouldn't start the Gimp, instead telling me I need to download XQuartz. Which was installed and running, because I'm working with Inkscape right now.

But taking away my printers? Fuckers.

    FUUUCCKKK

Just bought the Apple TV (again) as I wanted to do the airplay monitoring but discovered just when I was about to buy ML that it only works with MBP 2011 or later.

Pissed off now so cancelled my ATV order. And can't see much reason to upgrade to ML. :(

That's annoying :-( Not to mention probably technically unfounded.

Yup, didn't even think to check as limiting it to newer models seems completely unfounded :(

Why will it work on a 2009 Mac Mini and then be limited to such recent MBPs?
  • Deleted user 27 July 2012 19:05:19
Probably because they have new MBPs to sell >:(

But they also have new Minis. Anyway, I thought I saw someone on here say they had it running on a 2008 MBP?

The Apple page says it'll only work on 2011 and newer minis?

There's something called AirParrot which does the same thing. It costs 10 dollars, but there's a trial. Maybe it'll do for you?

How in the hell do I backup my mail for a complete wipe?

Tried exporting it but I'm not convinced that is enough.

@mowgli Same but discovered Airparrot and I'm happy again. Streams at 1080p too. Fuck knows why apple couldn't implement this tech into ML.

Cheers will look into it. Too late to cancel my order so will play about with the ATV and Airparrot before deciding to return it.

Just did my first ever wipe (of my MBP) and clean install of Mountain Lion. Bloody lovely and the swipe for the notification bar is actually a thing of beauty. :/

    AirPlay restriction is technical.

So also down to Apple wanting things to work well rather than just work.

It's still just a theory, though.

There's an Ars Technica article on Airplay mirroring vs Airparrot
