Just reached Mystical Pique. Loving it so far (on Vita) and it has so far made me smile every time I've turned it on. Sea of Serendipity was beautiful, the music was superb \o/

Once you get into a rhythm the whole thing flows really nicely.

The only downside of playing Rayman Origins on the Vita is occasionally the levels are a little too zoomed out making Rayman almost microscopic.

Apart from that, its lovely jubbly!

You can zoom in on the Vita, though.

It's shitting hard right at the end. I gave up trying to beat that last chase level. I only had that one and the very final level to do and I would have got to the "real" ending. Bastard!!

    Use pinch-zoom on the touch-screen during a level. :)

Just finished this. I have to say that I don't think it's a very good game really. Pretty much every level becomes a memory test. It's like a very beautiful modern day Dragon's lair at times. It's just not fun. VERY FRUSTRATING. Still. I finished it, which says something I suppose.

    FCUTA!

Just finished getting every one of the electoons in this.

Enjoyed it a lot but the last world soured the experience a little for me. Too many annoying bits that felt cheap rather than hard.

The frustration is partly why it's so good for me,it makes it properly old school

I don't think any Rayman game ever is a very good game, including Legends. They play like shit compared to Mario and DKCR, it boggles the mind that these 2 are so highly rated. They basically seem like style over substance. Great illustration and visuals, but the gameplay is just not very good.

Are you going to same thing in every single thread related to Rayman? Fair enough if you don't like it but its starting to look like a pathetic vendetta now.

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

  • Deleted user 16 September 2013 22:03:24
    Yes I am :D

Not a vendetta at all. I don't even hate the game or anything, I've wanted to like every Rayman I've played, I just don't.

It's more that it confuses me they're so highly rated, that's all.

Okay then. For the record I think you are completely wrong, particularly when you say it plays like shit compared to NSMB, which I've found to be increasingly disappointing with each new sequel (NSMB2 being particularly boring with barely anything "new" about it).

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

I think I made sure to state the John Wu version of NSMB, which I think really is the best 2D platformer since SMW.

The others I found very run of the mill tbh, I wasn't impressed with NSMB or NSMB Wii.

So, I just started this on Vita. I've almost finished the desert/musical world and it's leaving me cold at the moment.

The music and character sounds are fucking annoying, like they were orchestrated by the staff at Fisher Price, the physics feels really floaty and I just don't give a shit about what the hell I'm rescuing or collecting.

Things I am enjoying are the puzzle rooms where you free the pink blobs, the shoot-em-up bit and a few bits of inventive level design.

But for the most part, I'm not feeling it. Is it slow to get going or just not for me?

Probably just not for you. It's a 2D platformer, so the gameplay is pretty much the same throughout, aside from slight changes in location/enemies/traps.

As far as 2D platformers go, I thought it was great, although I'm not a fan of how the hardest levels are basically memory tests. I thought the soundtrack was just as good as the visuals, too.

I'm liking it more on Vita than on the big boy systems.
Not that I think it'll really change your opinion but it's worth noting that you don't have all abilities until the end of the 5th "world".

But its a really funny memory game and a game have to be good to truly be really frustrating

I thought Legends was a better game by a massive distance.

Started playing this on Xbox One last night. My it's beautiful. Really enjoying it so far but the actual character design of Rayman himself, with his floating hands and feet, just seems so at odds with how well realised and designed everything else is.

How good are the end of world music levels! I played the Mexican 'Eye of the Tiger' one last night, absolutely glorious.

The amount of content stuffed into this game is insane - they've really gone the extra mile including the original Origins levels.

I haven't hit any of the music-themed levels yet. Was hoping to play some too but ran out of time last night.
