My will is almost broken, and those reviews for Nintendoland and NSMBU have pushed me over the edge.

I've about 65 PS3 retail games sat in front of me, the same amount on PS2 and about half that on the Wii. It's time to get ruthless as at least half of them haven't seen the light of day in over a year. Gonna put the old and dusty towards the shiny-shiny! :D

    Edge review of NSMBU.

    8/10

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

Be ruthless, punt the lot of it.
I recently sold my Wii and all games and peripherals, same with 360.
It feels good, a cleansing experience :-)

Are you suggesting that the voices in his head actually sleep?

So in typical EA fashion, mass effect 3 has quite a few technical issues apparently, it's almost like they don't really try isn't it? :D

Christ, they really don't care do they? No doubt they'll pull support for WiiU citing lack of sales

EA, what a bunch of ninnies. FIFA could have been a big sell as the gamepad features are good (as is having it semi-portable) but its hampered by being based on last years game:

From the ONM review snippets posted on the last page
What is it? The Wii U version of the biggest football game in the world. It doesn't feature all the new stuff from the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions (there's no first-touch control system or Ultimate team mode) but it does have some GamePad tricks such as the ability to pass, shoot, move players off the ball and make tactical changes on the touchscreen. Manager mode also enables one player to manage the team on the GamePad (and move players off the ball) while the other player controls the action on the pitch.

What we said: If you're a dab hand at the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 version of FIFA 13, it's probably best to avoid, because the GamePad features don't make up for the missing modes and mechanics. If you've never played an HD FIFA game before, however, and this is all new to you, then by all means snap it up, because you'll be blown away.

    Score: 80%
You wouldn't mind so much but FIFA sells gazillions and makes an epic fuck ton of money.

We knew this about Fifa though. This is also consistent with other console launches - using a previous year's version.

I find Mass Effect 3 more disappointing. Why didn't they just release the trilogy version, even if it meant delaying till after Christmas. That would have been a great package, and may have even piqued the interest of ME veterans picking up a WiiU.

It's typical EA, remember their releases at the beginning of the 360? FIFA was utterly shocking.

FIFA RTTWC 06 on the 360 is the only game I have ever taken back to the shop on the grounds that it doesnt work as advertised.

I keep hearing surprisingly good things about it. EG reviewed the PS3 version. Let's hope the developers have done a good job of the WiiU version. MK needs a bit of competition anyway.

Sounds like they put the effort in with some kind of exclusive monkey ball game where the person with the pad plays as the ball

I just wish they'd cancel this fucking embargo and allow scores out...the fact it's so close to the release, implies the worst.

Granted, COD was embargoed until day of release, but it wasn't bundled in a launch console pack.

    NSMBU Iwatas asks

    http://iwataasks.nintendo.com/interviews/#/wiiu/nsmbu/0/0

Takemoto: But a problem for the Boost Mode challenges was that you couldn't play it without two people. We didn't want to make anything that a single player couldn't complete if he or she wanted to.

Asuke: Then we saw a certain programmer who just happened to be tapping away at Boost Mode challenges all alone.

    Iwata: What's that like?

Asuke: You hold the Wii Remote with both hands and…

    Iwamoto: Like this.

Takemoto: And you touch with your right middle finger…

Asuke: (tapping the table with his middle finger) Like this.

Asuke: That programmer got all the Boost Mode challenge gold medals all by himself.

Also sounds like its going to get DLC

I ordered my son a Wii U this week as his main Xmas present, and I must admit the positive review for Nintendoland has really put my mind at ease.

There's nothing quite like having a new console to open on Xmas day, just need to decide now whether to plump for NSMB or Sonic Racing as game no.2.

When you can't see the angles on the wall you're in trouble.
