    GAME like to shove the worst of software line ups into bundles. Anything they can't otherwise sell.

    This is the company who doesn't include a way to charge a handheld in the box. I wouldn't put it past them.

    Gamestation seem to have all the launch games listed as 49.99....that better change otherwise i wont bother.

    Fair point, but they're not going to have long lasting sales if it turns out half of all Wii U owners can't play the games properly. They are creating unnecessary confusion by excluding it though. I wouldn't be surprised if people are put off buying it at as a result.

    I think that's the RRP for Wii U games and Gamestation only sell new games at RRP. can find the games cheaper online, but not by much

    £39.99 + £49.99 depending on how bold they're feeling. I remember they were taking the mickey with Dead Island for ages.

    I wish Nintendo would come out and tell us if the sensor bar is ESSENTIAL to play some (or all!) of the Wii U games.

    ... why the holy-moly is the sensor bar included in the basic pack in America whereas they happily left it out here in Euroland?

    The Nano Assault footage Mr. Armoured Bear posted is really quite lovely. I hope the very same developers make a sequel to Art of Balance one day ... that was one of the very best WiiWare games.

    Managed to finally get a go on one yesterday, thanks to a swift detour to Nintendo World.
    Really liked it, only got to play the beautiful, and delayed, Rayman. But I got a good sense of the game pad finally. The buttons below the joystick weren't too off putting, and the pad itself felt rather lovely and comfortable. The shoulder button was a bit too 'invisible' for my liking, BT once I get used to it, I'm sure it'll be cool.

    The screen is bright, colourful and responsive too, which was a relief...but it was also a lot more fingerprint friendly than your iPhones or vitas.

    Got two really garish Pokemon bags for free too :D

    Yep. I bought an arcade 360 just so I could get it in all white. It's likely to be especially bad as it's shiny - shiny black things are fingerprint magnets. I'm guessing you can't get the Pro controller in white though.

    Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

    doesn't the wii u gamepad come with a sensor bar built in? (Well at least it looks like that in the pictures I've seen) So if thats true then there might be a calibration that requires you to point the game pad a the tv screen??? Just an idea

    I got to play on one at the expo really pikman 3 (first tie ive played one), Nintendo land seems a good way to getting friends used to playing on a Wii U before going off playing something bigger (good warm up game, thats what I used Wii sports for) and I enjoyed the 4 player go with the Mario game.

    Got the premium package pre ordered cant wait for November now

    @DuvaDan88 You are correct the Gamepad does have a sensor bar built in; there are actual diagrams showing integration between the Wii-mote and Gamepad in the Wii U patent document.

    So the amazing Spiderman is comming to the Wii U (Game informer) and the developers that are porting Mass 3 are porting a Square Enix title over.(IGN). I hope its Tomb Raider or Hitman not FF.

    Are these still available to per-order? As in you would get one on launch day?

    Less than a month away and still major unanswered questions:

    Is a sensor bar essential for single player Gamepad games?

    Does all the software support being played on the Gamepad if, for example, the Mrs wants the TV back?

    Two huge points that nobody seems to know the answer to.

    @richardiox

    I would say if you are not getting a sensor bar in the basic pack then it is 100% not necessary for the gamepaf to work correctly

    I would also guess that not all games will work on the pad only, how would a game that uses both screens work, e.g. ZombiU?
  • Deleted user 15 October 2012 21:03:51
    I think the pad on its own will be fine. but if you want to use the wii motes i think you will need the sensor bar.

    @greenthumb

    So why is a sensor bar bundled in the American and Japanese "basic pack" equivalents?

    And your response "I would say that..." and Joel's response "I think that..." proves my point that with less than a month until release nobody actually knows...and we're 'core' gamers.

    @richardiox

    You honestly think they will sell a bundle that will not work out of the box? It would make more sense to bundle the sensor bar and bin the HDMI cable in the basic pack, the cost would be comparable

    Saying that, they didn't bother with a charger for the 3dsxl....
  • Deleted user 15 October 2012 21:15:55
    you're right it is confusing.

    I would defintely say the gamepad is fine, since it has a bar built into it, but for wii motes i would imagine you do. Which is frustrating as Nintendoland, mario and pikmin all involve multiplayer which requires the wii motes.

    As it is, i've pre-ordered the deluxe, but i agree with you and raiko. It could potentially confuse the average consumer. Unless each game comes with a screen like the strap screen you get on wii and psmove games saying you need this and that for this game. I guess half the people don't look on the boxes either.

    On a different matter though, the gamepad latency is 1/60 of a second.

    quite impressive.

    I'm almost certain you don't need a sensor bar unless you are using a wiimote for pointing i.e. Black Ops 2 (although even then it's possible that they could use something along the lines of Skyward Sword's bow aiming).

    Some games definately can't be played on the gamepad, Zombi U being one of them. I'd hope in the future it will become more common for games that use the gamepad in many important ways (again such as Zombi U) to support it, for example I don't see why AC3 can't, they'd just need to make it play just like the 360/ PS3 versions.

    With the news that some of the CoD dlc might not be available "on all platforms" I might go for it on 360 instead, I probably still wont get the dlc but i'd like the choice...
