Well at the moment nothing much really. Not a fault of the system, but for me personally, i don't see what it adds over my existing consoles (all 3) or PC apart from an extra screen and a larger controller which i dont think fundamentally changes the gameplay experience. They have tried this before with Gameboy and PSP and Vita and its never been found useful. You either look at the TV or you look down. you can't do both

    .
What about the DS? Unless i'm missing your point :) (which is probably true).

As i see it. Nintendo may have got round the whole 3rd Party thing, by pratically giving DS developers to work bigger. If the Wii U gets the library of games that the ds has, i be happy.

The only problem is whether they will have the budgets to do so.

I'm also hoping Stragety games make a console come back. With the extra ram the Wii U has, and the screen and stylus use, Command and Conquer, Black and White (PLEASE!) Sim city etc would be a breeze. Plus games like Advance wars could make the leap to big console versions.

@mikew1985 Obviously games designed for asymmetric multiplayer wonít use the Off TV feature; but Iíll be happy if all downloadable eShop GameCube/NS64 games have this function.

has it been confirmed that gamecube games will be on the eshop for Wiiu? If so that would be cool.

Considering the Wii U won't have backward compatibility with physical GameCube media; I would expect HD remakes and New Control remakes of N64 and GameCube classics on the eShop in 2013. Cube and N64 titles would look fine on the Gamepad controller even without graphical enhancements.

I'd expect them on the VC, but I doubt we'd see them in HD.

It's a shame they've not upped the texture resolution, but I suppose that would be too much work.

Epic Mickey 2 is going to be a launch title. Hopefully there will be a few more.

I've cancelled my pre-orders for FIFA and Assassin's Creed 3. I'll be getting these on the 360. But I've pre-ordered The Magnificent 101. Hope this will become a launch title as title as well.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

I've not pre-ordered Assassin's Creed at all yet. I want it on Wii U, but not for those ridiculous prices. It looks as if i'm going to be stuck with Nintendo Land, ZombiU and Rayman Legends until the hype dies down.

Going back to MH3, it's apparently running in 1080p.

Nano Assault Neo is looking very nice! Have they confirmed the e-shop will be available at launch this time? If so, I shall be downloading that.

I don't have a source, but i'm pretty sure they've announced a number of eShop titles as being available at launch, including Nano Assault.

I remember hearing something along the lines of "... will be available at launch on the Nintendo eshop" which I took as a clever way of phrasing it so they could always say that they meant the launch of the eshop if they couldn't get it ready for launch for whatever reason.

They seem to have a better focus on it this time around though so I think it will probably be there.

Just been through and reviewed the prices for WiiU, in the "shopping" folder. Seems the general trend is upwards, to match the existing top end prices, and some sites are showing as sold out/de-listed on certain bundles.

It looks like Rayman Legends has been put back to a launch window game and has been put back to 1st quarter 2013.

I wonder why that would be. I wasn't planning on getting it until the new year anyway but a lot of people seemed to be planning on getting it. They've been putting quite a lot of emphasis on it as a show-off on what the hardware can do as well so it seems a bit odd.

Indeed. You think Ubisoft would want to capitalise on sales with the launch, as it's known for doing. If the games not ready though, i'm not complaining.

Maybe they feel they'll be fighting for sales against the Mario game. Putting the game back to a period when it won't have competition makes some sense.

(I've not seen the Wii U release calendar, but I'm guessing it'll suffer the usual year-long almost-drought of quality titles)

@jimnastics Rayman Legends was confirmed by Ubisoft as a launch title; it appears in the European Launch Line-up but not the US Launch Line-up; perhaps Nintendo have requested a delay as (Rayman may take the wind from NSMBU sales) or Ubisoft decided that Rayman could be overlooked due to (NSMBU being a Nintendo launch game) who know, the 2013 date could be an error on Nintendo Europe's behalf.

I wrote earlier in the thread that sending the game framebuffer to the gamepad would result in a halfing of the framerate. I remembered incorrectly, as it is the use of two gamepads simultaneosly that halves the framerate.

Makes much better sense. The gamepad output is probably limited to 30fps and running two gamepads at the same time as the telly output would be too much for the console.

Effectively this means no game will support two gamepads. Not an issue in my book though as the gamepad is too expensive for anyone to buy a spare.

Uh? They've already announced that extra pads will be going on sale next year to support all those games that can use two pads.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

Yea, but is anyone going to support two of those pads in a game?

unlikely outside of some Nintendo developed curio tacked onto Zelda or something.

The barrier to entry for it is too high. Going by the Japanese prices it looks likely that the Pad itself is likely to cost upwards of Ä150.

    @mikew1985

If you've got a Wii U, you could always take your pad to play on your mate's Wii U... that said, I agree that two controller games are likely to be the exception than the rule.
