Would help if they'd release some games for the 3DS. Only game I've bought for it in the last 6 or so months is Link Between Worlds.

Also the only game I can think of that I plan on buying this year is Smash Bros (and I might even skip that seeing as the Wii U one is out a month or so later.)

All the eurogamers who actually play with each other on xbl rather than just post pseudointellectual pc handwringing bollocks on the forums, love the shit out of biggy.

They don't have the resources to focus on both and release within' a good time frame. Instead of spending the money they made from the Wii, they seemed to have just lost it.

If only there was a thing called third party developers that could fill the gap.

Although third party would help, I'd say they need to keep creating new titles as well. They need titles that don't just hit one or two audiences.

The early struggles of the 3DS have had such a big impact on Nintendo's strategy this generation. Time that should have been devoted to launching and supporting the Wii U was instead being ploughed back into getting the 3DS off the ground. And having filled one void, they opened another with the Wii U software drought.

It looks like the same thing is happening with the 3DS now they've shift focus back to the Wii U, but there is actually a fair amount of software coming out on the 3DS over the next 6 months. It's just not a lot of it will appeal to the mainstream.

It's a shame, but hopefully Nintendo are putting things into place to stop this happening again next time around. I know they're pretty keen to ensure that it's as easy as possible to port games between their handheld and home consoles next time around. That and they've done some great work getting indie developers onto the Wii U and 3DS.

Looks like from the 1st of August until Christmas Day, five whole months, I will only buy one Wii U game; Bayonetta 2.

... a part of me thinks that that is beyond the woes of woeful and yet I also took advantage of the Mario Kart 8 free game(s) promotion by nabbing six out of ten of those and besides The Wind Waker HD, I haven't played much of - or completed - the other five. So, in a way, I am neither pleased nor displeased about this.

As well as Colour Zen, NES Remix 2, Pullblox World, Stick it to the Man! and starting Minish Cap for the GBA.

Yeah, I am not complaining at all to be perfectly honest!

To be honest the wii u library, past, present and future will keep me going through out the console life, plus games i missed on the wii as well. I had the console for two months and still quite happily playing away at mario kart and brothers U. The two games i got on the day i got the console. I got games to play across the ps3, 4 and 3ds, so over it life time, the lack of games shouldn't be an issue for me.

It's a great little machine, that deserves more success. And more games.

Also it helps my gaming habits have changed in the last few months. I been really happy playing the same few games, kart, brothers u and resogun for two months solid. I play them because i want to, rather than rushing through them to get to the next one. It's like being back in the snes, ps1/2 era again. I'm not sure what changed in the last generation to change my habits, whether it was being online and sharing my gaming experiences, trophies , or the type of games where different i'm not sure.

I'm in a happy place gaming wise at the moment.

@RyanDS I'm surprised they thought the 3DS would get by on 3rd party support alone. That was poor judgement to say the least. I think things are slightly different with the Wii, though. It generated a massive install base from the get-go, so it would logical to assume developers would be all over it.

I don't think the DS or Wii ever impacted each others software development schedules, though. The Wii definitely had it's droughts, but I don't think you can blame the DS for that. DS development was particularly cheap and Wii games weren't coming anywhere near close to those of the PS3 or 360.

Still, it's an issue Nintendo would have seen if they'd bother to look at the competition a little more closely.

Me too, thanks to Mario Kart 8, Pikmin 3 and Super Mario 3D World as well as returning to Link's ocean-bound adventure that started on the GameCube a shy over ten years ago. The Wii U, for me at least, has been brilliant.

I also loved playing my PlayStation 3 roundabouts this time last year when I played the likes of Guacamelee!, Hotline Miami, Journey, Thomas Was Alone, The Unfinished Swan and of course, The Last of Us.

Games, at the best of times, can be great!

I need more of those charge cradles. Otherwise it's all going on Wii Points, for cheaper eShop downloads.

Hmm... Anyone else going to download XType+? I was thinking it would be a good excuse to chase some highscores. Except trying to access the highscores instantly crashes/freezes the console. D'oh!

Edit - Ok, so it seems to crash whenever you try to access the Highscores. It has also crashed on every attempt to play classic mode, other than the very first attempt. That's now 5 crashes inside 10 minutes.

2nd Edit - It seems like the few folk who have downloaded it are having the same issues at the moment. It's just crashing every time you select something from the main menu.

I want Club Nintendo stock the 3DS XL cradle and I would very much like the 3DS cart case. Nintendo sells a case on their store but it's a Hori one, which I find rather odd.

Although..... just noticed I have enough for the diorama, hmmm.

Doubt the Luigi's Mansion 2 diorama will go for the 100 I managed to sell it for earlier in the year, back in January however, I am sure if you keep hold of the figurine, its value shall hopefully increase over time.

... that X Type Plus game looks quite cheap and miniclip-ish; is it really worth almost 3?

@CharlieStCloud It would be if it worked properly. I got in about 15 minutes of gameplay and enjoyed it. However, it's crashed my console nearly 10 times already. Both the developer and Nintendo are looking into the issues, apparently.

Cheers, dude. Now that the offer's over, I'm going to hold out for something sub-200. I'm pretty sure something will crop up before summer ends.

Trine 2 is a pretty poor game, in my opinion. I have two key complaints with it. Firstly, the floaty and imprecise controls. It makes platforming a chore and is quite frustrating at times. Secondly, when playing co-operatively, you often have to switch characters with those you're playing with and repeat the same processes for clearing an obstacle, but for all players. This makes things rather fiddly and repetitive.

It's a pretty looking game and the presentation is top notch, but the rest of the game falls flat. Of all the Wii U games I own, i'd argue that this was the worst (closely followed by AC3 and AC4).

I played the demo of Trine 2 on Xbox and I thought it was shit for the reasons Raiko has given. Like LittleBigPlanet and countless other third-rate platformers, the weight of the characters and the controls are completely wrong. The Wii U has some of the best 2d platformers from the last 30 years.

Nintendo perfected this almost 30 years ago with Super Mario Bros. Is it asking too much for decent controls in a platformer?

It's harder then you think. Mario works due to years of tinkering and work for the controls to feel right and work for each level, but those sort of controls won't work on every platformer.

True to an extent - a few XBLA titles have nailed it, especially Super Meat Boy.

Fez and Limbo aren't perfect but the controls are perfectly adequate.

I've just ordered a Wii U from Amazon Italy. I plan to get The Wonderful 101, Zelda: Wind Waker, Pikmin, Mario 3D World, Mario Kart, ZombiU (which I finished last year & loved), Donkey Kong. Then when released, Bayonetta 2, Captain Toad & Zelda. Is there any games that I'm missing?
