What am I missing with that X game? From what I saw it just looked like a bunch of giant robots fighting in space, didn't seem anything like the original Xenoblade.
You need to look a bit further back at Xenosaga.

Yeah bar zelda this is my must anticipated wii game, I too thought the space intro looked generic, but it's much more like the last one on the gameplay vids. Looks like the kind of rpg they don't make enough of these days. Simply stunning and I see it scoring big when it launches I'm expecting to pick up day one d's going on the past they don't make enough copies.

Thought the New X trailer was a bit naff. Looked much better in this walkthrough, especially from 14 mins onward.

Saying that though, take away indie and 3rd party games and Sony and MS are even worse...
That is actually a very valid point but it would be lost on those fanboys.

Am I missing out on this pro controller? Seems to be a lot of talk about it. What's the reasoning behind that?

It's so refreshing to see so much love for the wii-u on this thread (I too jumped at mk8 launch) and everyone that did has not had a complaint to make, we underestimated Nintendo and as such are part of the problem. Let's hope it's not too late, anyway anyone on the fence we say go for it. Don't worry about a price cut seek out the mk8 bundle and pick up the extra game while you can, we don't think you will regret it eh lads ;)

@zoolophage Sorry for the day-late reply, but they shown Monster Hunter 4, Fantasy Life, Theatrythm: Curtain Call, Final Fantasy Explorers, Persona Q, Super Smash Bros, STEAM, Phoenix Wright Trilogy, Pokemon Ruby/Saphire, Gunman Clive 2, Woah Dave! and Thorium Wars.

At least those are the ones I still remember.

    @ChiefGB

Bit of a moot point, though, as they do have strong 3rd party support. If they didn't, and were in the same boat as Nintendo, they would be structured accordingly i.e. it would be a different Sony and Microsoft. We might see them resemble Nintendo more.

Edit: sorry, response to Adv as well.

Was just something I hadn't picked up on, I love my ps4 (xb1 somewhat less so) but I was happy to see nintys efforts this year seemed plenty of interesting titles coming. Hope that yoshi game is not without the usual Nintendo cunning level design in there somewhere.

Cheers. I guess I could have looked that up myself. I actually like the look of Fantasy Life.

@ChiefGB I put down some of my thoughts back in February about some of what you are talking about. While there is no doubt that Nintendo are largely to blame for the fortunes of the Wii U, I also saw it as partly attributed to the history of the Wii and also the general perception that grew towards the end of the Wii's life and carried on into the life of the Wii U.

Anyway - not pimping anything but you are welcome to read/agree/disagree. Like I say, was written back in February.

Just a quick Google though and you can find that Nintendo did... I'm almost tempted to post a couple of links in the E3 thread and then run off :)

That's much better, thanks. Still looks more like a 3rd-person shooter than a JRPG though (not familiar with Xenogears so not sure if that what the series is about).

It's very much a JRPG, just has a real time battle system very similar to Xenoblade.

@neilka The Barry Chronicles game is the best! It's like Alan Wake on a budget, which is fine, because it turns out that Alan Wake was an incredibly, unnecessarily, expensively made game.

I can't comment on Kevin Quest 3, but you've reminded me that Costume Quest 2 is Wii U bound, which makes me happy!

The only thing about X that irks me is that the characters look like the people from the Channel 4 docu 'Living Dolls'.

Not seen the doc but I do think the models are a bit 'off'. Hopefully they'll sort that out before release.

A very fair assessment of the Wii U woes. Interestingly, just a few months later the arrival of MK 8 and a decent e3 showing appears to have given it a shot in the arm. You are particularly correct in noting that most people who try the Wii U actually like it. May it be so simply because most of the Wii U games are actually fun as opposed to dark, tense, grimly challenging and all that other 'adult' stuff. You should do a follow up in a couple of months once new MK 8 owners have had a chance to bed in.

It just seemed to be something that was sitting on the back of my brain at the time but no one was really talking about it from that perspective so I spilled out my thoughts on a page as I didn't think that the journalism of the time was really trying to get to the bottom of why the Wii U was struggling so much (apart from the no games mantra). I am glad you found it an interesting read though. Was written back in February and yours is the first feedback I've had because I wrote it, posted it and forgot about it.

Pinky, your review of W101 also reminds me that I need to play it. Bought it upon release (digital, too) but never really found the time to get into it.

@zoolophage Such a great, great game behind a steep learning curve. Get through the curve and you are home, free and will have loads of fun.

@Pinky_Floyd a spot on assessment there mate. I'm trying to do my bit also. The first thing I noticed 30 secs after starting up mk/sm3dw was that I had nearly forgotten that games are supposed to be fun. Too many are pofaced and serious although impressive and enjoyable, nothing is better than playing with a smile and no one charms quite like Nintendo.

Wii U titles, I take it? Good to see they'll be announced at a sensible hour for those of us in the UK.

I've just been watching the Treehouse Live feed of Yoshi's Woolly World and my heart melted. Its such a charming game and looks far better than Kirby's Epic Yarn.

I am definitely happy with my wiiU purchase now. Was a bit worried after all the doom and gloom that they would stop supporting it but that couldnt be further from the truth. Roll on end of 2014 and 2015!
