There have been about 20 new ones since then. They've all been shit.

Didn't like the Wii version the gamecube version was the best ever. I dread to think about the hours spent on that game. They should go back to the drawing board.

They just need to release the first 2 in HD. That's all. Ignore that platforming adventure one, all the phone and portable console ones and definitely the Wii ones, and just do a collection of the first 2. In my opinion, they had the best levels plus the best mini-games.

Edit: Didn't they already do a sort of 2 game collection when they ported it to PS2? That one. Do that one in HD.

I cannot imagine what the QoL stuff might be and how it would be any different or better than the hundreds of websites/services that cover that stuff right now. QoL is 'serious' and it's be weird to do something in the non-gaming sphere. You would imagine that a piece of hardware/something wearable is necessary to monitor life style related variables. It also appears to be an incredibly competitive market.

Aye, Super Monkey Ball Deluxe on PS2 and Xbox.

Gamecube version is still the best though, simply by virtue of it being the only console of that gen with official wireless controllers, which were a must for 4-way party gaming.

Yep the first 2 were easily the best once they went to the platforming adventure route it was doomed to fail. Go back to the basics what made the first 2 fun.

Lot of cash spent on 'intangible assets pertaining to the construction of the development centre'.

What the fuck does that mean?

Edit: at least their sales forecasts now look realistic.

They are developing staff that know how much development developing HD games needs.

More on this as the situation develops.

Monkey Target was perfection. So many inebriated nights at uni ended with round after round of that.

R&D spend was JPY71m against a budget of JPY55m. They spent JPY53m last year and expect to spend JPY57m next year.

What on earth are they researching, and why have they stopped?

R&D costs can include recruitment IIRC, they have been building up resources for the new development centre it seems.

I think it'll do 15M max unless something huge happens which is very unlikely.

Back in Jan they sharply revised their forecasts downwards for both sales and profit. They missed even these revised figures.

So we're back to the "doomed" line I see.

It does look bleak though. Their full year projections for the Wii U imply that Mario Kart and Smash Bros are all that's coming out for the platform this tear after all, with perhaps a cross-gen Zelda next year, Twilight Princess style, to introduce the Wii U successor.

    6.2m I think.
    Yeah it's bonkers.

Good to see them with realistic guidance for once.

It's funny, but it seems everyone except Nintendo knows what they are doing wrong.

They got really lucky with the Wii.

The risk isn't that Nintendo go under. The risk is that they stop trying and exit the home console market.

They seriously need to get some games released on the wii u, they should try and get more foreign studios to work on the machine. Even if they're just ports of existing games from last gen. Could really go for a wii u version of fallout 3 or even something like uncharted (yes I know it's Sony) in a new ip. Wouldn't be too bad if they could flesh out some of the ds/3ds best back catalogue.

Even if they do sell the rather optimistic 3.6 million in the next year they'll still be short of the 10.6 million that the Dreamcast sold before it was binned at the same point in its life cycle.

But can it match the dreamcasts mighty tally of 600+ games?

    No

I dont think anyone really wants them to 'do a sega', i.e. crashing and burning into being software only thanks to their entire business model collapsing, leading to massive restructuring and abandoning developing the games that made them so popular in the first place.

Its actually possible for nintendo to go software only without completely imploding first.
