After a weekend with the console I have to say I'm quite taken with it. So much so it's all I can do to stop myself picking up the full list of games I'm after in one sweep!

My 9 year old daughter has played on it more than I have though - which pleases me greatly - Lego City Undercover is perfect :-)

Are VC games playable solely on the gamepad? Thinking Earthbound would be better played that way than on a big screen!

Anyone have the Wii remote rapid charging set? Im torn between that and a plain set of rechargeable AAA'S. My main issues are charging time and playing hours. Also the charging set comes with a black battery pack and white sleeve (odd combination I thought) which is not ideal for my mario/luigi wii motes. Plus its quite expensive

@jellyBelly I have it and it's ace. My only problem is you can't buy the batteries seperately and I have 4 wiimotes.

Have taken it up with the Nintendo store numerous times and they keep telling me they don't know when I'll be able to buy the batteries on their own.

Wiimotes take AA's by the way! I use rechargeable AA's all the time and they are great but the handiness and quick charge of those little battery packs is ace.

@brokenkey Just Dance 2014 is a real hoot if you are:

    A. An alcy with alcy mates

    B. Have a young family

    I'm the latter, obviously!

@Pinky_Floyd Ok, cheers, sounds positive, yeah got my A mixed there. My biggest qualm is that I don't want to have a white jacket and black back on a red mote

They aren't exactly as far as I can tell, at least not if you have transferred them from your Wii.

Any games that are only available in the Wii VC shop can be played on the pad screen (with the WiiU in Wii Mode), but you will need a Wiimote / Classic Controller combo to control them.

Anything that is available in the WiiU VC shop, can be transferred onto the WiiU for a fee (0.99 for NES, 1.49 for SNES) and you have free reign to just use the WiiU game pad.

There aren't very many games available in the WiiU shop so far. I've only done it for Super Metroid, ZLttP, SM3 & SMW.

Unless anyone can clarify, that's my understanding of it.

What are the must have Wii (not WiiU) VC games? Got almost 4000 points in my account and should probably do something with them.

Also which Wii VC games are upgradable to WiiU VC?

I believe any Wii VC game which is available on the Wii U store is upgradeable.

I'm confused. You have to pay extra to play on the gamepad?

The above only really applies if you owned (and bought VC games on) a Wii.

Any VC game you buy through the Wii U eShop will be playable normally on the gamepad.

If you owned eShop games on the Wii, they can be upgraded (for about 99p or something) to the Wii U versions.

This means you can get proper off-screen play and save points.

How do you upgrade your Wii VC games? I jumped into this whole Wii U thing without really paying attention this past year.

I only have Super Metroid on Wii VC anyway, but I don't really want to pay a fiver again for it.

You'll need to have done the system transfer, then it appears at the discounted price in the eShop.

Just go to the game in the WiiU shop. It will know you have it on the console already from the Wii (assuming you have transferred them) and the purchase price will be automatically reduced.

I didn't buy anything from the wii eshop. Ever. So it's face value and playable on the game pad :-)

Didn't realise eShop games could be played on the controller screen!

    /purchases Earthbound.

So does that mean things like Mario 64 are playable on the screen too? That would be outrageously good.

Well why not? Seems like a good way to tease fans and communicate news. Part of the community! :D

Assuming it's really Miyamoto's profile of course! ;)

The 3DS Letter application was even better for promotional posts, cause it was automatically seen by most (no need to go looking for the posts) but oh well...
