    Would have thought it is the start of the Christmas rush but then again DC and Wii U decrease in October. Prob price cuts for those two, timed at just before the beginning of holidays

    But the price cuts are pointed out on the graph

    I don't think we'll ever solve this mystery

    I picked up assassins creed 4 on wii u and started playing straight after 3d world and you can def tell the difference in framerate, far from unplayable, i actually think it looks really good compared to playing ass creed 3 on the 360 last year, could be just the setting though, it is more vibrant.

    I got Wii Party U yesterday (largely for the Wii remote, but as something to play over Christmas with the family) and I've got to say, the missus and I had a hoot. Sure it's not the most taxing title visually, but I found it to be really good fun (especially as it's essentially a £5 add-on to a new controller). There are some great little uses of the Gamepad too, either laid down flat or being held/used in various different ways for different games.

    Recommended from me.

    Tried the demo of RE: Revelations, and was surprised to see it perform much better on the gamepad, than on the actual TV. Super-smooth on the former, but quite stuttery on the big screen. Couldn't really enjoy the game though as the deadzones are horrendous - hopefully that's just a problem with the game, and not the controller.

    Have to admit, I'm really liking the gamepad for off-screen play - not surprisingly it's far more comfortable than any handheld I've played on. The screen isn't the greatest compared to modern devices, but in typical Nintendo fashion it's just about good enough to get the job done. But that just makes the lack of decent third-party support all the more disappointing - off-screen play would be a huge incentive for me to pick the Wii U version over others. Although not if it's clearly the inferior version (as seems to be the case with AC4, unfortunately).

    The deadzone on the Gamepad seems to differ from the Pro Controller. Honestly, if you're picking one up, try that demo with both controller options. I'm sure you'll notice the difference. I certainly did with Splinter Cell.

    I had issues with the deadzone on the Resident Evil demo too, I couldn't figure out hot to use the Pro Controller on the Demo either.

    You need to into options/settings on the main menu, you can then change it over.

    Finally got around to firing it up. The day one patch took 2 hours to download and it's just finished installing.

    This is my first Nintendo console since the N64. I like!

    The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

    @beastmaster

    Wait till you start playing with Miiverse nothing screams 'playful Nintendo fun'† more than that. For me it really is the star of the machine and I can't imagine either of the other two doing it the same way.

    Yes, it looks like a delightful machine.

    Quick question about the Virtual Console. I love my Donkey Kong, Ghouls 'n' Ghosts and Salamander.

    Do these play on the controller in full screen? Or on the TV with black bars or something?

    Black bars are present in all VC games, both on the TV and the Gamepad. The games are displayed on both the TV and Gamepad at the same time, so you use whichever one you want. I think the games generally look better on the Gamepad as they appear softer in image. However, I still tend to play them on the TV with a Wii remote (for NES games) and the Pro controller (for SNES games).

    Is it wrong that that I now own every single WiiU exclusive of note?† Is 8 games in 2 weeks a tad OTT I wonder.

    Either way excited to get home, should have Wind Waker waiting on the door mat.

    Was looking online to buy a Wii U earlier, and gutted this is out of stock :(

    That Nintendo store Mario bundle might have to suffice, although I really wanted that Zelda gamepad

    Damn that sorcerer! Twenty gold pieces and Iím wankered on Rohypnol.

    That was indeed a nice bundle. Too good. So good I don't think they ever actually had it in stock.

    Quick question, if I download Virtual console games, do I need to get a specific pad or can I use the wii u controller/wiimote?

    @steve1979

    You can use any controller you want if it's from the Wii U store. If it's from the Wii eshop then it has to be a wii compatible controller.

    VC games for wii u can be played on the gamepad or on the tv using the gamepad.
    Previously owned Wii VC games can be be played on the tv with a wiimote or on the tv with a wiimote. You can also pay an upgrade fee to use certain previously owned VC games on the gamepad in off tv mode.

    @Sharzam So as I have a Wiimote plus, I could just use that? (I've not opened the WiiU yet as it's a family Christmas present).

    Got the Mario Mega bundle, gamepad controller is great, feels new but slightly retro and just different to the Xbox/PS.

    Did have to update the console which took about an hour, and linking accounts, transferring content from Wii to WiiU took another hour, it was an arduous and exhausting process, so if you're getting one of these for Christmas for someone I'd advise to get it all done before hand.
