Other games worth considering is Lego City and the other Nintendo games. Also Deus Ex Director's edition is best on Wii U apparently.

I don't think it's hyperbole to say that 3D is the game of the year. It is for me anyway. It might be that it doesn't get an awful lot of media coverage and exposure because it's on the Wii U.

I was just saying elsewhere actually, I thought it was a 3DS game until fairly recently. ^^; I guess that should do until the New Year, anyway.

That and the fact that they have wisely chose to launch it on the same day as the PS4 to ensure they minimise any press coverage.

Most recent press coverage I've read in the mainstream press only mentions the X1 and PS4 and their relative merits and differences. It is as if the Wii U doesn't even exist now that the 'Big 2' are available. Oh well, I'm content to quietly enjoy whatever Nintendo plan to output over the next couple of years.

Is the Miiverse only really useful if you have friends? Seams like a cool idea but no real use.

I don't know anyone else with a Wii U :( so empty list, although I will do my best to convert some at the weekend.

Known as 'Sharzam' in 98.5% of games

Go on a door knocking campaign, clutching the manual.

Miiverse is pretty good for getting hints if you get stuck in games, or just for seeing some of the amazing art that people somehow manage to create on the pad

Managed to get the lightning Wii u for 179 thanks to my internet shopping obsessed girlfriend who phoned me this morning to tell me about it.

We were surprised it let us do the free two game bundle, seems like it was a glitch maybe?

    Anyway, happy days ahead.

Tempted by Deus Ex myself. Heard some bad things about the original, but apparently the DC version is much improved and best on Wii U.

Deus Ex has a crippled frame rate on the Wii U, which just leaves a few touch screen interface odds and ends which are hardly going to make up for such a critical problem in an action game.

Frame rate is 30fps and is fine, can drop occasionally but it's hardly a twitch first person shooter. It's a far more stable frame rate than the likes of ME3 on the PS3.

It's by far the best version of the game, the least buggy. Has some incredible miiverse functionality (audio and picture logs you can leave for friends) and the interface menu tough screen stuff is really well implemented.

I own it and it's cheap. I also played the 360 version when it came out. The Wii U version excellent and reviewed excellently for that very reason.

@Cappy Are you talking from first-hand experience? Because all reviews point out to exactly the opposite being true; ie all other versions of Director's Cut being crippled except Wii U version.

I've played the Director's cut on the PS3 and there's nothing wrong with it. It's certainly not crippled.

It's definitely supposed to be the best version of the Director's Cut, as it seems it was ported from that back to other systems. Even the PC one ended up inferior at first (might have been patched now), which is why I've just stuck with the non-DC and using Typhoon on those boss fights. They're still all good though :)

Still tempted to get the Wii U version, but I'll pass until I've finished Mass Effect 3 first. Similar sort of shooter with RPG upgrades means I'd probably get a bit of genre fatigue.

Is Splinter cell Blacklist any good? It's on the black friday deals later, (4:15 if you're interested).

It's 20 full price so I would reckon it's going to be a pretty good price

I absolutely love it, though I think I'd still recommend it on another system if you can. If you're Wii U only like me, just be aware the loading times are noticeably long and the online population is pretty low.

apart from that, it runs fine and there's plenty of single player content to keep you going for a good while. You can play it old school or as violently loud as you fancy.

I really enjoyed the first 3 splinter cell games, I had conviction on PC but it ran like a dog and I never really got on with it.

I'll see what price it comes in at, i'm tempted

There was a thread on NeoGAF where somebody started doing a best ports chest beating routine, over the course of the thread their list of 'superior' Wii U versions got stripped down to two or three games, Deus Ex was called out on it's inconsistent frame rate, actually all the reviews I saw (including the EG review) seem to mention the lowered frame rate which is unusual for games reviews, they tend to avoid mentioning such things, so a lot of people noticed.

There's a small note about heavy particle effects occasionally slowing frame rate down in the EG review, but that's it. I quickly read a bunch of reviews and impressions and no-one mentioned anything about a lowered overall frame-rate compared to other versions. In fact, most seem to agree that it's the best version of the game (and it is the other versions that are in fact buggy).

@Cappy Could've just asked me, I own it.

    /shrug

As for the framerate, it's better than GTA 5's and that didn't seem to bother too many people.

So now not only have I got a Wii U, I also have FOUR games for it. None of which are the main games I bought it for (the two obvious ones). Tsk.
