Just got my Wii remote plus - what a difference it makes to Pikmin!

Tried out my old wii games though.. oh dear oh dear, looks absolutely horrendous compared to... youtube. Horribly pixellated. There goes Skyward Sword.. at least until a HD version is ever released :(

Highly improbable, though Nintendo would have to slow down Wii U production, retail channels must be pretty stuffed by now, aren't new customers still getting launch machines that require a day one update?

Unfortunately, slowing production is still costing them money, they don't want to lose the capacity to make more consoles but they don't want to pay for lines to stay open doing nothing. They'll try to cut production to the bone first.

I suspect that production costs of the PS4 at least will be cheaper or on par with the Wii U within a couple of years. The memory in particular will drop in price fast versus the memory in the Wii U and Xbox which has already bottomed out since it's fairly old tech.

Sorry. I just checked the news about it, and Nintendo are stopping Wii production not WiiU. Stupid sales assistant! :D

Production has to remain for the MarioKart 199 fly-off-the-shelves bundle.

By the time Mario Kart is out, you will be able to drop the '1' from that.

Combined with PC, PS3, 3DS and PS4 as well as current backlog, yes.
I tend to finish a game a month.

    Hello folks,

Not posted for a while but have picked up a Wii U and have a question about transferring stuff from Wii to Wii U. I guess the main thing is that I have mates round sometimes and we play SNES VC Mario Kart and SF2 Turbo, To achieve this I use a Gamecube controller and the Wii Classic controller. If I transfer my games to the Wii U, will I be able to play 2 player again without buying another classic controller? I assume that the Gamepad is not supported in Wii mode. I guess if I get the upgraded versions then 2 player can be played with the gamepad and classic controller?

Another thing, the Wii U's internet connection is very patchy, and I'm often booted out or can't connect to internet. This is particularly frustrating as Mrs SBJ used the wii for Netflix a lot, and is now finding the Wii U a pain in the arse. Are there any fixes for this? To reiterate, the Wii is in the same place as the Wii U and has never had any problems with connecting.

I really don't want to keep the Wii running alongside the Wii U but these two issues mean I may have to.

Otherwise, the machine is great and I can't wait till Mario on Friday!

As a rule of thumb, if you have to ask if you can do it, you cant.

I thought as much, just wondered if anyone has done this.

What about crappy internet connections? Does anyone have a fix for this?

Perhaps an Ethernet adapter? They did them for the Wii at least. Can your setup go cabled?

No, broadband is from another room from living room so would be a big job. It seems odd that the Wii U's connection is poorer than the Wii's what with it being 5 years newer and all. Dunno if it crap hardware or software or what. Most of the time it is fine, but seems like 10% of time it won't work. Hopefully it will right itself.

There's a fix with router settings from earlier on in this thread, maybe that will help.

Lego City/Rayman Deluxe Pack is on special at the Amazon Black Friday sale tomorrow morning, it's 239 atm so could easily be 199 or less.

Doesn't come with Nintendoland, which is a shame. Still a decent enough price though.

\edit: assuming it comes under 200 that is, of course.

Yeah, think you can pick Nitendoland up for 10-15 quid these days though.

It's more that I think I'd play Nintendoland, whereas I've recently OD'd on Lego games (the new Marvel one on PC) and just wouldn't touch Lego City, and I'm too old and shit for the Rayman games. So it's basically a console with two games I don't want.

Think I'd rather wait for a repeat of that 220 unit with the 2.5D Mario/Luigi platformers.

It's quite nice being in the market for, but no rush to get, a console actually. Biding my time. At this rate I'll be biding it until next summer when Nintendo shit themselves and slash the cost.

Fair enough, I really enjoyed Lego City but I recently tried demos of the LOTR one and the Marvel one and I can't be arsed with more Lego games, as cute as they are.

I just ordered Rayman but I think it'll kick my arse so I know what you mean :-)

Do you pass the connectivity test when you set up the WiFi connection?

If so then you might want to check if you have a firewall active on your router and UPnP active. Check to see if there is WiFi interference from other WiFi networks using WiFi Analyzer on android. Sometimes setting the router to a new WiFi channel that's not being used by your neighbours can help.

You can also try to manually configure the connection. This is a guide from the techforums at Nintendo.com.

    1. Go into connection types, Hit "Manual Configuration"

    2. Input your SSID

    3. Input the correct security type, this is key.

    4. Put your password in properly

    5. For ip address "Do not auto obtain".

    6. open up cmd in your computer, type in ipconfig

    7. Now input that ip address but add 10 to the last number so "192.168.0.1" will be entered as "192.168.0.11"

    8. Enter the rest of your info inside such as subnet mask and default gateway exactly as you see it in your ipconfig.

    9. Now hit next, hit configure now for your DNS. When asked about DNS hit "Dont auto obtain".

    10. For the first server put in 8.8.8.8

    11. For the second server put in 8.8.4.4

    12. Hit Next, when asked about a proxy hit no proxy

    13. Leave mtu as the default

    14. it should work, if not check the ip and that it is the internet ip
    Here's one..

For some reason, the Virgin Media HUB hates the Wii U. Or the other way around. It'll work, but it'll work like ass until you've set up your connection manually. I've no idea why this is, when both the Wii and 3DS have zero issues with it.

Its possibly because its a netgear router. Netgear stuff *hates* poor quality wifi adaptors.

My superhub absolutely refused to work properly with my wifes dell laptop and I had to turn mac addressing on the router before that thanks to the amount of devices that wouldnt connect.

Also a lot of stuff hates push to connect. If you are having connection issues, try turning it off.

I couldnt get my galaxy S3 or a new MacBook Pro to reliably connect to a D-Link router until I unticked the box.

Are NetGear routers all round bad then? It would go some way to explaining it's unpredictable nature. Sometimes the thing wont work wirelessly, at all.

All the ones ive ever had have either started off badly or spontaneously developed faults.

One I had kept putting in random MTU values, so you couldnt get onto HTTPS sites like banking or hotmail without setting it back to 1492.
