Wii ones can be viewed on the pad but require a seperate controller.

Wii U ones can be viewed and controlled on the pad.

In other words, if you had already bought Super Mario World on the Wii and want to play the very same game on the GamePad ... you have to purchase the very same game, again, through the eShop on the Wii U to play said (very same) game on the GamePad, right?

I cannot abide by companies who do this and I used to be an incredibly - and daftly - defensive Nintendo fanboy for heavens sake!

From what I've read, your existing Wii VC games will still work through the Wii backwards compatibility option, and there's a discount if you want to purchase the Wii U upgraded gamepad-compatible version of the same game.

Agreed it's daft, but it's better than no backwards compatibility at all.

@CharlieStCloud actually you only gave to pay 1.50 if you did the Wii to WiiU system transfer

... but I, like many, many others, waved goodbye to my Wii YONKS ago!

1.50 or not, it should be FREE if you had already purchase the very same game before.

@CharlieStCloud The Wii U VC games also run at 60hz our have been sped up, manually.

Who knows, though. We've only recently been able to see Wii games on the Gamepad. Maybe they'll patch a solution one day. It's better than not being able to transfer your Wii stuff over at all.

The Wii transfer thingummy is at least a step above what the other two offers (i.e. no back compatibility whatsoever), but the whole lack of an accounts system, even if you had put the game(s) code through the Nintendo Club, is just ... it genuinely flabbergast me.

That's enough moaning from me this morning.

@CharlieStCloud apparently the 1.50 fee is to cover the cost of msking it available on the gamepad. However I also don't think its the greatest service ever myself

It should be something for Nintendo to consider putting inside their GamePad's from now on!

You did technically sell those games when you sold your Wii. Just retailers were not putting any value on them.

Edit - Not to take away from the fact they should have an account system in place.

Not bring funny, but that looks a lot more cumbersome than just having the power cable plugged in. Or does it replace the internal battery? On crappest phone in the world.

My cat chewed through my charging wire first day I got it. My new wire isn't near long enough so a larger battery would be quite helpful

I'd hope it would replace the internal one.

I'd hope it would replace the internal one.
my worry would be voiding the warranty. All it takes is one dodgy firmware update and boom.

Also, is 1.50 really that much considering you're getting an upgrade to the 60hz version and it's been developed to play on the gamepad?

Bigger concern by far is the tardy nature in which they're releasing VC games.

Ah right, I was presuming it was just like a rechargeable battery pack.

@CompetitiveDad Zombi U was a tenner new last night in my local blockbuster, if your still unsure about it a tenner isnt a huge gamble. Unsure if this is a nationwide offer or not, maybe worth a look though.

This penny pinching from Nintendo is actually why the WiiU does not interest me and why I am disappointed with my 3DS. (And by contrast love my Vita).

I love Nintendo games and know full well there will be an absolute classic game on the WiiU but I am just not interested in buying the console.

@Gambit1977 Are you talking about the official Nintendo battery linked above or something completely different?

So... Does anyone have this, how much difference is there between the 2?

Does Nintendo still do the numbers for adding friends?, but your username can be whatever?

Nope, usernames now. I think you can also choose a nickname, but your username is the one that has to be unique.
