    I had it for 6 months, but in that 6 months there was not a single game released for it.

    What frustrates me is it is so typical of Nintendo these days. Full of great ideas, but never followed through. All they had to do was not cheap out so much on crucial parts (notably the battery in the remote and the PS3 / 360 level CPU) and they could have had something great. Especially at the price they charged.

    Oh, and they could have made a game or two for it, rather than just port 20 year old stuff and 3DS games. All in all it just reeks of laziness.
    Underpowered console, high price at launch, barren first year release schedule, 3rd party support dwindling, shops reducing stock.

    Yet they still deliver the gaming magic that no one else can match. I've enjoyed WindWaker and Pikmin 3 more than anything I've played on my 360 for the last few years, which says it all. Nextgen is leaving me stone cold at the moment. Sometimes you have to log off from Eurogamer, clear your mind of the bullshit that flies about constantly in the gaming communities, and just play the damn games.

    Rumours bubbling of a Wii U release for Luigi's Mansion 2.

    Listed on some retailer systems. Calling BS on it. Nintendo wouldn't dare would they?

    @jimnastics never a truer word said. As next gen gets closer I keep wondering WTF I'm excited about, then I look at Super Mario 3D world and think how great Christmas is gonna be with my Wii U.

    Was listed on newegg a week or two ago.  I would totally be up for it, its a brilliant game, reckon it would look well dishy in HD.  Helps that I have only played a bit of the 3DS version.

    The more games the merrier!

    There is no achievement system, but many of the multiplatform games come with their own, in built, achievements. If you have any achievements you want to boast about, you just take a screenshot and tag it as an accomplishment.

    That will no doubt be a disappointment for many, but I don't miss them myself. I can imagine I'd have played far more assassins creed 3 than necessary.

    That's no problem. We never had achievements in the 80's! Pffft having food on the table was an achievement in them days. Damn you Thatcher!

    @CompetitiveDad

    Black Ops 2 is pretty good on the Wii U. I haven't touched the single player, but the online multiplayer is great because of the lack of mics (shit for team work, but great for not listening to assholes). It's not heavily populated, but you can always find a game. The split screen using the Gamepad as a single screen is excellent.

    @jimnastics so basically, ignore the flaws?

    Doesn't quite work for me. Especially when there's so many.

    @SG59 The games are there now with more on the way, if they float your boat and you want to play them, great.  If not, plenty of other ways to get your gaming kicks.

    @Raiko101

    It does, but it seems the majority of the players don't have a mic. I've played plenty of games but haven't heard a word yet.

    One thing I really can't tolerate about Nintendo is their awful virtual console service. They really should have the best retro collection available out of the big three but instead they have the worst, relying on incredibly overpriced NES games (which by today's standards are mostly awful.)I don't know why the gaming media doesn't call them out on it.

    It's actually hilarious that I'm here willing to spend money on SNES, Gamecube and Nintendo 64 games but the only current solution I have is to download them illegally on the internet.

    And I refuse to believe it would take too much effort to put up some roms on the eshop when people are willing to do it for free on the internet.

    You can buy N64 games from the Wii store and you can now play them on the gamepad but I agree with your main point.

    They seriously are taking their sweet time. Back when the drought was at its worst they could have alleviated it a little with some classic gamecube games. But they didn't.

    I don't have a Wii classic controller. Can I use a pro controller for Wii virtual console?

    I do agree but I can't complain to much with games like super metriod, super Mario world and earthbound

    So.. Playing virtual console games on the gamepad is only to display the game not to use the pad as such, then another controller to play?

    Does that mean you have to buy an entirely different controller just to play the Virtual Console games?

    ... and I complained about third party adapters in the Xbox One thread the other day!

    It must be a pixie fairy dust scenario again.

    I totally forgot the Wii U is Wii compatible. Does it upscale the graphics in any way.

    As much as I hate the Wii, my time on both the Mario Galaxy games was brilliant. I may well invest in some second-hand Wii peripherals.

    Still not set up Wii U yet. Probably be sometime next week now. Meh!

    The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

    I just grabbed one yesterday abd it's making the wait for next gen more bearable, I see it as an additional to my next console. Don't get this whole only buying one malarkey. Great console with some great games!

    @CharlieStCloud I agree with what you are saying to a degree. But firstly the X1 doesn't offer backwards compatibility so you would need an entire extra console to play 360 games and with the wii's frustrating controller you couldnt just magically wave a wantld and it will work on anothef more standard controller.

    Wii U VC can be played using the pad. Think there's some confusion here.
