I got a nice little statue with various Nintendo characters for the bargain price of 7000 points. Only had to spend about 800 on various systems and games.

I got the SNES controller, which of course I've ended up keeping in the box as it's too nice to use. Nothing great at the moment though.

Lego City Undercover is up for an award for its writing, well deserved too, I say. 2013 Writers Guild Award.

Very well deserved indeed :) Some of the best writing I've experienced for a good while, and easily some of the funniest stuff. Can't see it winning as it's up against some other great stuff, but even a nomination is a nice acknowledgement of the talent of the writing staff.

Well it's up against Tomb Raider and the writing in that was a bit naff in places.

The fact that it's limited to British writers does narrow down the field a bit though.

Worth bearing in mind. It is one of the funniest games I've ever played, not only is the writing top notch but they managed to get some amazing voice talent on board to do it justice, especially certain impersonations (Morgan Freeman and Arnie spring to mind).

It's odd, TT knocked it out of the park with this Lego game. I know the other's are well regarded (but not my cup of tea) but the extra freedom they seemed to get with this one allowed them to really showcase just what a great development studio they are.

So I managed to sort my wifi issues and I'm actually posting this on the Wii u browser while I wait for Zelda to download. This is actually the best tv browsing I've ever done so credit to Nintendo for that. I just temporarily disabled the security on my router to download the system update. So far I'm pretty impressed with the console, ui and especially the Gamepad which feels absolutely perfect in my hands.

The browser is superb but was improved a lot in the last update. Hopefully in a couple of days you won't be posting how shite the whole things is but we'll see :)

Yeah Sony missed a trick over the 360 by not improving the browser. Before smart TVs it could have been a usp for the Playstation. It's still worse than shite.

What makes the browser so good is the gamepad. Typing with the virtual keyboard and being able to watch a video on the TV whilst surfing on the gamepad are the two best features.

I remember finding the web browser on the PS2, back in the day.

Could/Can you link up a phone or iPad with a smart TV for browsing?

Now that's the future. At least for a little while.

Edit - I don't have a smart TV and probably wont for another 5 years.

    Karaoke is.......... class :)

No real latency issues. There is a little, but fine really and thats using hdmi into an av receiver.

Kids had a blast as there is a childrens section.

I had a go at Eye Of The Tiger.

What really, really worries me for the future is the general flakiness of the Nintendo Network. Multiple errors just trying to start songs. This does not inspire confidence for something like Mario Kart.

I might invest in a wired adapter because the wii u is beside the switch.

Given the issues I also had with Animal Crossing New Leaf I am beginning to think that Nintendo need to start over with their network infrastructure. It must be incredibly flaky. I doubt its the software as their QA is usually pretty solid.

    We shall see.

It is looking rather good. I wonder if it'll live up to the last one, in terms of difficulty.

It looks very similar to the Wii version, only with slightly better graphics. That's no bad thing but I preferred the 3ds controls over the Wii waggle. However, I imagine that gamepad controls will be ideal. A solidly good but not amazing game.

Does look like its Wii counterpart in HD but rayman legends looks the goods and thats all 2d spirits. How are people enjoying the Wii U version of rayman legends anyway? Im liking it alot but not sure if its better than origins though, definately more variety in legends with the murfy levels, which control really well on the gamepad. I think there is too many of the murfy levels in the game and it gets in the way of what makes these 2d raymans good.

Ironic that they included the original set worlds from origins in this, highlights the shift from origins to legends, but those music levels in legends are damn good.

Agreed. And surely the lan adapter alone delivers at least a similar level of fun to Drive Club.

@Armoured_Bear I believe at one point they were actually slower, but OS update 3.0 fixed that.

While the fact that it's USB is utter tosh - there should be less chance of dropped packets and it should be more stable with less chance of any interference.

Even if the speed doesn't increase, if I can get the usual wired benefits and it helps mitigate against Nintendo's dreadful network - then for 20, I'm in.
