Skyward sword and TP really divided people. I thought they were both crap ;)

i would say this for skyward sword. For all that it did right in my eyes (that was alot) i couldn't believe how boring flying was and hated having to leave the world to get to the next area, just hated it, give my an open field and epona any day

Same, really. It felt kind of like Superman Returns, a half hearted love letter to earlier, better games.

That and the fact that, no matter how good ocarina was, 8 years is a long time in game design and it just hadnt moved on.

It wasn't rubbish, it was hugely flawed but not rubbish.
The dungeons were fantastic, as were the visuals IMO.
The handholding and lack of adventure ruined it.

    My 3d Zelda list is

    Ocarina of time
    Wind Waker
    Twilight Princess
    Majora's Mask
    Skyward Sword

So i agree Skyward sword is probably to worst of the 5 games, i still rank it quite high in my list of all time favorites (well top 100 at least)

A 3D list because, naturally A link to the past is the best Zelda game ever.

Link to the past, links awakening even legend of zelda are above the 3d games in my eyes

Which is why I am more excited about lttp2 then I should be

Can anyone recommend Toki Tori 2+? It's going for 8 at the mo. I nearly picked it up when it first came out, but after hearing about the update they had planned, I put it on hold.

As much as I love the 2D Zeldas of yore, I put OoT above them all. In fact, OoT is still my favourite game of all time.

    @Raiko101

Toki Tori 2 is pretty good but it doesn't give you any kind of help or instructions at all. It's possible to become stuck and have absolutely no idea how to progress, which is where I am with it right now. You could spend hours backtracking or messing around trying to progress.

@zoolophage Hmm... That doesn't sound as bad as it should, but i've just come off the back of Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion. Maybe i'll leave it for now. Cheers for that!

The Legend of Zelda? The very first NES Zelda? Really?

I'd put Skyward Sword on the same level as Wind Waker, quality-wise. Both were ultimately flawed but made up for it in different ways (e.g. WW had the exploration, SS had the puzzles).

I adored Link to the Past and I think that historically it will age better but I love my experience with Ocarina in 1998 more than orgasms.

I have to admit that I find Skyward Sword boring too. True, excellent dungeons but it felt too stifling. The sense of discovery had eroded away, far too linear.

I agree TP was very tepid, and just kind of boring. It's the only Zelda I haven't enjoyed, and that just hasn't felt very inspired or fun. Seems like someone trying to make a Zelda style game, rather than an actual Zelda.

I think Okami is a much better game.

Skyward Sword started out brilliantly for me, full of life and charm compared to the rather dull TP, but after playing for a few hours I'm not so sure about it. It's no WW or OOT, that's for sure.

My 2011 experience with Ocarina 3DS solidified its status as the greatest game ever in my eyes. I love Majora's Mask, LttP, Link's Awakening etc. as much as anyone, and they're possibly the better games, but there's just something special about Ocarina.
  • Deleted user 12 September 2013 17:30:19
I think Ocarina is a lot better than the 2D Zeldas. I liked the 2D Zeldas, but they never felt that special. Ocarina does, it's just an epic game, and everything about it is good.

Yeah for the sheer challenge and just sense of exploration. Your just given a sword told to equip it and sent on your merry old way. I love oot and I agree it is special and will always hold a place in my heart for what it brought to the zelda series but lttp and to some degree links awakening are just better in my opinion

Also oot 3d is what has got me excited about ww hd it really showed what Nintendo can do when it comes to re makes
