Yeah, that's my point. I hardly ever visit Game, so all my bricks and mortar game retail "experiences" come from supermarkets and HMV now and none of our local shops sell Wii U stuff.

Used to be you couldn't move for the shovelware Wii bullshit.

Skylanders takes up most of the game retail space around these parts. Impressive and depressing in equal measures.

That is also true. The skylanders stand is, basically, the same size as the Wii one.

Mine had Wii u games for the first week, after they sold out, that was it. Until this week. Where they have two wii u games in the wii chart. (lego and sonic racing).

It's not dead yet. It's got some great games coming up and it still gets a lot of attention on forums even if most of it is bad. I'd be more worried if it was flat out ignored.

/last line is a set up for a sales quip

Aye that pretty my viewpoint as well, after christmas.. or spring with mario kart, if hasn't picked up by then, i don't know, its going to be the end of the WII U pretty much and i can't really see what they could do to revive it.

A pretty sad state of affairs, and one i struggle to comprehend.

Who cares about MK when they've got Mario 3D World? That's clearly intended to be their big family-friendly game this Christmas.

I don't think there's been any mention of it being 3D-enabled, and why would it need to be? It's not the same game as the 3DS version.

Because otherwise '3D World' is a bit of a weird title since Mario has been in the third dimension for nearly 20 years.

    I guess it's a 3D version of Mario World.

I thought the whole point of the 3DS "3D Land" was that it was like the old Mario Land games on the GB, but in a 3D world.

Anyway, the naming system is confusing and silly anyway.

I thought that it was cribbing the 'short and sweet over and over' nature of the 3DS version and was, basically, an extension of that, which is why I couldnt quite understand the 3D part.

And, because of that, I dont really consider this a 'proper' 3D mario game like Galaxy or Sunshine, even though it may be.

Anyway.. its not like nintendo to come up with a confusing naming convention.

Seriously thinking of trading it towards a PS4 now while it's worth something. Just have to convince the kids to let go of Lego City...

In other news, Miiverse has increased it's character limit from 100 to 200. Thankfully it's not long enough that we'll see essays from users, but it'll mean I wont have to chop up my replies anymore!

I thought the just shoehorned 3D into 3DS game titles because of the 3D thing. And then this a remake/sequel whatever to the 3DS game.
The 3D in the 3DS one is brilliant, to be honest, and works amazingly well. Its a totally different game when its switched on and the levels are designed really well around it.

Its one of the reasons I thought this version may be 3D enabled.

I will get a Wii U one day, most likely in a similar fashion to when I got a Dreamcast and 10 games for 25 in Electronics Boutique.

They have some great looking games coming out in the next year, but will they sell enough consoles to entice 3rd party support in the future?

I can't see it, especially with the release of the PS4/Xbox1, could this be the last Nintendo home console?
  • Deleted user 26 June 2013 17:28:26
The sad part is Nintendo make some good games (even if they don't really do much new with them) but they try as hard as they can to make their hardware in attractive to me.

I wish they would just go multiplatform.

    Cue Sega comparisons.

If they did go the same route as Sega there would be a mad scramble between Microsoft & Sony for exclusivity.
