Yeah, my son has next to no interest in now apart from watching netflix on the gamepad.

We're also having issues with it freezing. Very often when I hit the home button it'll just freeze on a white screen. Also, a good amount of time it doesn't sync with the console on start-up.

@nickthegun Fair enough. You'd want them both supporting the console, but Ubi have mostly thrown out garbage so far. With the exception of ZombiU and the fairly disapointing Assassin's Creed 3, they've got a ton of rubbish floating around on the Wii U.

With EA, i'd imagine you'd get some highly polished games, but unless they're ever-so-slightly updated sports games, they'd just go ahead and give you a random instalment of a particular series and expect it to sell.

Software sells consoles, if you dont have the software you dont sell the console. The wii sold bucketloads in the first few years thanks to the tons of shovelware that was released, developers didnt ignore it, it was only when the 360 and ps3 took off that developers jumped ship completely.

And to be honest, this is the situation the wii u is in now, just how it was with the gamecube and the n64 before it, stellar first party titles with a handful of 3rd party titles worth owning for the system.

The only problem, there is no games for the wii u at all, if nintendo said that smash bro and mario kart were coming out in the next 3-4 months, no one would say boo, but they're not, nothing is.

Nintendo are making strides into the online arena, but is it too late? It would be a shame if nintendos first HD console only managed to sell through 20 million units, it deserves better than that, its a great piece of kit, but where are the games???

I was impressed that even Digital Foundry have started saying "There was only one lockup in 5 hours" as a good thing in their reports.

It really sums up how people are percieving the console when shit things that aren't really that shit are used as bonuses. (See also load times...)

I play mine all the time, and I have to admit to a couple. Both were on Assassins Creed 3, both caused by pretty much the same thing - trying to open the map just after loading into a city. Bit of a pain, but at least it's consistent & avoidable.

I've had 1 system freeze, also on Assassin's Creed. It froze mid cutscene, forcing me to pull the plug, but when I rebooted the game it continued off from the exact point it froze.

Wish they would release the damn update already - no point teasing something on youtube that should have been there on launch day

You would think lockups and crashes were something new the way people talk about it.. My first generation ps3 with BC was a nightmare. My GameCube used to go a bit random and my original launch japaneese PlayStation would occasionally boot to a black screen..

Must just be Nintendo hate highlighting this.. And yes, my wiiu has locked up, I just pull the power and get on with it..

Just to confirm; you are aware that new things are supposed to work better than old things?

I must be really lucky because my 360 has never crashed and has games available for it.

And is about to be replaced and fade into obscurity, along with all current gen consoles. Thankfully I didn't pay 400 for one 5 months ago or anything stupid like that.

Although if I did I'd at least know that I was buying into a rich back catalogue of games for the console, so that would be something.

On the subject of lockups I've just had the one. That was entering theatre mode on black ops 2. Can't remember having any others. Funnily enough the only lockups I've had on my 360 and ps3 have been via cod games. Black ops being the main culprit.

@Progguitarist your son can't have much soul. Lego City is amazing and worth the entry price alone and I'm 34. That on top of the fun we have had with Nland, Sonic and Mario since November I'm happy with it. Bar Bioshock my 360 hasn't been touched in ages.

Yeah I shouldn't have ended that post with those questions really. I think I'll edit!

I was flicking through the thread for LCU last night. Seems to be a lot of love from those that have played it. Is it more GTA-lite than Lego game? I've never been particularly fussed with the lego games in all honesty.
Its my first Lego game so can't compare to others but its pretty damn fun. I wasn't keen on it at all before release but thought I'd give it a whirl and I'm glad I did. Problem I have is finding the time to play all games I've got recently.

    BioShock infinite (PC)
    Lego City (Wii U)
    Luigi's mansion (3DS)
Army of two: Devils Cartel (PS3) via lovefilm.

I really need to send my family away for the week and book a week off myself :)

@NOSAVIOUR We haven't picked up LCU yet. Looks pretty good. Everything else I've played has been underwhelming, especially Nintendo Land. It's a pile of dog shit.

Honestly, give it a bit more time. I admit I was ready to be rather dismissive of it too as a throwaway mini-game collection, but it really does get a lot better. Lots to do and unlock, plus it gets more enjoyable :)

Still not as good as LCU though.

Hahaha this is quality. You're using the most error prone console ever released as an example of stability. Rofl. That is truly funny. Good one.

60.% failure rate at release ring any bells?

Cheers for that, has made my morning.
