Looks OK, sounds as if they are going to use the controller as the beepy motion sensor

looking at 299 then? i would say 250, but we all know how much more we have to pay in good old blighty.
I'd hope Nintendo have learned from their mistakes with the disastrous 3DS launch. Release it at a reasonable price (no more than £250) and with some decent games - even if they're HD Gamecube ports, and I'd be pretty tempted.

I will give them 3 pound and 69 pence for it and not a penny more.

    Game looks awful anyway.

Surprised Nintendo are going for a high price if true. Surely MS and Sony will offer amazing value to scupper the WiiU. Depends if people flock to it I suppose, I don't think they are going to get the Wii audience again so could be a slow start. Need to know more this E3, many unknowns.

The more i read about the Wii U, the more curious i get.

I really dont think its going to be as big a success story as the Wii was, but i definitely think its got some potential - the "tablet as a control pad" idea could be a stroke of genius.

I suppose the bottom line is, will it be as good as the next xbox/Playstation?, or will the fact that it will have a big head-start on them be enough of an advantage?

What's interesting about it? It's an overclocked (maybe) PS3 with an odd shaped tablet controller.

This post is sponsored by Apple and the iPhone 4S. Think different.

My initial thoughts are that I'll take a console with a built-in tablet over one with mandatory Kinect/Move/motion stuff regardless of the power levels involved.

Hopefully we'll see something at E3, but I'm happy enough to wait for a couple of years and see what happens and avoid all 3 console's inevitably crappy launch games.

I've read that it's an underfucked dishwasher SoC with a wholegrain Hovis tablet, although if I think carefully, that might not be what I read at all.

This post is unsuitable for those with a high rumour-sensitivity.

I'm sure they're just playing it safe at that price point, I really can't see it being that much. I'd hope they'd have learned from 3DSes underwhelming launch that only the dedicated fan will buy in the launch window if you over-price it. I know they like to make a profit on their consoles, but if it was that price I can't see it having a great launch.

As I say though, probably just playing it safe. Better that than put a low price and end up having to raise it, most likely cancelling any orders they do get and having to deal with nerdrage!

Kirby is the man! Even if he wasn't, he'd just ingest and become one.

Or... it's a Wii with the cost of a tablet computer added on top. :p

I wont be buying one for that price. It'll have to be half that amount for me. Either that or have the single greatest launch line-up ever, including a new Mario, and online F-Zero, a new Smash Bros, Mario Kart and Unreal Tournament.

    That's not likely though...

Much more importantly, he's busy with Luigi's Mansion 2 and Pikmin 3.

Couldn't be less excited about another Mario game.

We are about to see the Miyamoto dream in reality; remember when the talk was about “Utilising 2 screens” and everyone assumed that the Nintendo DS was that dream. Well I believe we are going to see a 2D Mario on the Wii-U-Pad screen which transforms into a 3D environment on the TV; not only that, but the gamer will have a full 360 degree experience similar to VR using the tablet as a first person view cam.

@Sid-Nice And I thought Fez could get quite mind-bending...

I think that would be hard to do but if Miyamoto could pull it off, it would be incredible.

    Recent rumours claim...

The Wii U can use up to 4 Wii-U-Tablet controllers at once.
The custom AMD GPU is rumoured to have a dedicated chip to stream data to the tablet. The Wii U's video output is determined on whether the tablet is used as a HUD or graphical display i.e. 1080p 60fps TV 480p tablet display only with maps/HUD display, when graphics or gameplay is streamed to 2 controllers the TV output will be set at 720p 60fps.

Nintendo will announce an interactive Wii U/3DS game at E3.
Possibilities are Pokémon, Smash Bros or Mario Kart using (NFC) near field communications; Pokémon Snap/Battle Arena sounds like a good possibility.

Peripherals available at launch and on display at E3.
Western Digital external HDD $99, Wii U HDMI lead $25 and extra Wii-U-Tablets $129.

So, sorry a couple of pints speaking here. If 4 controllers are compatiable it will have a fair bit of ram. Thats fair to say? . So it gives some developers the chance too use the wii u has a 'next gen' console with one controller, and others, say party games a scope to use 4 controllers with functional graphics/power. Yes/no?

    it caters for both.

    good work sid, nice updates.
