Doesn't seem to be affecting the millions of ipad (etc) sales. Also, while sales are down on the whole in the UK, sales are disproportionately down for Nintendo vs it's competition.
Also doesn't seem to be affecting game sales for 360 and PS3 all that much. Chart Track is a sight to behold 18/12/3 - 360/PS3/Wii
    WiiUWiiU doesn't even feature.

It is affecting existing console games sales as well though. Tomb raider will have done a decent turn to boost this month though im pretty sure. Gamers are continuing to buy games but at a reduced rate.

The whole industry is going to get a bit of a shake up as gamers insist on better and better looking games with bigger budgets without paying any more for them. It wouldnt surprise me if we lose a load more studios this year as shit games just die horribly or get a rental at best now.

And existing systems often outsell new ones.

    http://arstechnica.com/uncategorized/2006/06/7030-2/

    http://uk.ign.com/articles/2009/07/30/sony-first-quarter-ps2-outsells-ps3-psp

and both of them ended up doing ok.

Maybe im in a fortunate position where i dont need others validation about products i buy. If it does what i want it to then im happy with it. I owned a dreamcast and despite the fact it bombed, it served the purpose i bought it for perfectly, it has some great games and as a whole i got my moneys worth from it. Its the same with the wii u. As long as it sells enough thst i get the first party nintendo games i want from it then im happy. It was never purchased with the idea of it being my sole gaming device, however im confident that by the time i get rid of it that it will have provided me with some of the most fun experiences of its generation of games.

I had a hearty LOL this morning.

My good friends son was gifted a Wii U for his Birthday, which was on the 1st March ... met up with them last night and their son has been playing on his Xbox 360 since Monday.

... even the kids don't like playing it!

    : )

The problem is; he probably found playing Nintendo Land too difficult, when Microsoft joined the video games industry with the Xbox they took games like Metropolitan Street Racer and Jetset Radio and simplified them. The sad fact is that the current core gamers are actually casual gamers and look upon mainstream titles as hardcore gaming.

I actually find nintendoland quite hard, doesnt stop me playing it though. The chances are he is probably playing cod with his mates on the 360 as it seems that and minecraft are the 2 games the kids are hammering nowadays.

The party compilation Nintendoland is now a hardcore game?

Yes, it is one of the only three games the system has*. It is rather good, but it is a party game that is deliberately accesible and easy to get into.

*Zombi U, Mario and Nintendoland. There are more if you count poor ports, but why would you when you can play those in higher res on a older system.

It may be a party game but the mechanics actually have some meat on the bones. I wouldn't say it was casual at all.

A little light weight perhaps but it's a massive step up from WiiSports in terms of depth.

I think I can strike that off my list then.

Think I'll br continuing to plunder the Wii back catalogue for the forseeable future then.

Monster Hunter and maybe Most Wanted are still possibilities though.

That's probably cleared up the Wii U sales mystery then, Customers were turned away in droves because they couldn't meet the minimum hardcore requirement to be allowed to purchase a Nintendo console.

Some of us just don't have the skills to absolutely ace those hours of handholding and tutorials.

As I understand it, Miyamoto only cuddles Japanese people.

An expensive, yet innovative but slightly dated cuddle at that.

Been watching some clips of Luigi's mansion 2 on the 3DS. Looks pretty good, part of me just thinks, ,Why isn't this on the Wii U'. Be a good system seller.

Nothing stopping them. They might even go the HD Collection route and do both for Wii U, which I'd quite like as I missed the first one.

I'd kick the living daylights out of the producers of Tipping Point - Ghandi

I would love that. They're doing it with Resident evil revolution so an in-house Nintendo game should be much easier.

The first Luigi mansion was great. I know the cube struggled but that was IMO one of the best launch titles ever.

Was Luigi's Mansion really that good? I ignored it at the time but a lot of people seem to hold it in high regard. Gamecube VC is due for WiiU is it not?

It had a lot of charm and was good fun, but was incredibly limited and extremely short and easy.

It ticks a lot of boxes for cult favourite, but not quite enough for actual proper classic imo.

It's a game that people seem to remember fondly, but it was met with a lukewarm reception at the time. Maybe a case of people feeling nostalgic for simpler times, though I think it also got the cold shoulder a bit back then largely because people wanted a proper Mario game on the GameCube.

I recall it as being okay, but extremely repetitive despite the fact it was about two hours long.
