NEXT MONTHS 30p GAME IS KIRBY'S ADVENTURE! I love that game. I'd have bought that at almost any price. I already have it on my Wii, and on my 3DS, but another 30p for one of my favourite games ever makes me very happy (clearly, I used all caps in that first sentence). That's from April 17th, the first half of April it's Punch Out.

Super Metroid the month after is awesome too. Then Mario and Yoshi, then Donkey Kong. I'm not so fussy about those ones, but then again at 30p I might go for them anyway. Obviously I realise these are nothing to get excited about, and I'm not (except Kirby), it's just nice that they'll be available.

I'd kick the living daylights out of the producers of Tipping Point - Ghandi

@DFawkes Yeh, I thoroughly recommended a screen protector, because as you mentioned, costly to replace.
Another thing I forgot to mention is the Nyko battery pack. Gives 10 hours and fits neatly in the battery compartment. Though at the moment, it's only available imported for over 30 at the mo.

Can you play and charge at the same time? If so, I should be okay as there are plenty of sockets around, just not plenty of TVs ;) Oh, and I take it it changes by USB?

@DFawkes Unfortunatly, no USB charging, but you can charge whilst playing.

I just want the full VC to be released already! just wanna play games from the N64 and hopefully GC off screen.

What is the difference between old games on wii and wii u? Presumably there must be one as I understand you can transfer wii VC titles over , so tit wouldn't make any sense to buy the same title twice?

The new ones can be launched from the Wii U instead of having to go into Wii mode, and although I'm not sure if it's always the case, F-Zero runs at 60Hz. That's not something I care about, but I believe in the past you've expressed that you prefer 60Hz so that's good :) Also they support gamepad screen play.

Nintendo fans have been for the last 15 years.

I mean, every game they've ever made makes me tingle with joy!

@Jazzy_Geoff Wii VC games can only be played in "Wii mode" on the Wii U, when they rollout they VC on the Wii U EShop, you'll be able to redownload the same games, but playable from the main menu and with off TV play capabilities.
It sucks you have to pay again, but a flat rate of 0.99p isn't too bad IMO.
  • Deleted user 2 March 2013 23:20:21
So if the existing games work, why do you have to pay again?

You don't. You just can if you prefer those features. Also I forgot you can save state - Wii ones do save on exiting, but you can't manually save and load.

Because of the added support I'm guessing, or to quote Nintendo, because they're being redone or something. Hopefully that means 60Hz support all round.

Again, I don't understand why you should have to pay again, but seeing as I only have around 10 Wii VC titles, I'm not too bothered... The people who bought loads of em are getting royally screwed though of course, which is some unfathomable logic really.

    @higgins78

By this logic why didn't SMG2 make SMG redundant? And you didn't answer my question about Journey.

No one disputes SMG 1 & 2 are regarded so highly and rightly so. But to then basically slag a game like portal is just down right daft. There's enough love in the world for more than Nintendo if you open your mind a little.

I don't want to be a dick or anything (even if I am one) but could please not try to engage him given you know he has no intention of coming to any sort of agreement? Just a request, of course. I'm not the boss of anyone. I barely do what I say!

May I ask how the Wii U Gamepad charges? Does it charge from USB? Or is it some proprietart connection so it has to charge from the Wii U itself?

Thanks Gambit :) I've got plenty of USB extension cables so should be able to play and charge from the comfy seats on my house.

It comes with a charger, and a dock too. So plenty of different ways to keep it juiced up.

Higgins78's major problem. He really is a massive contributing factor to why this thread's broken.

If your pure and undying love for Nintendo is strong enough, you don't need to charge the pad at all, it will draw energy from you whilst you play*.

*This may not work with those horrible non-Nintendo third party games.

Might be a bit sad but I'm genuinely looking forward to going through Super Metroid again, especially playing just on the pad.

Tbh I would pay 99p to play them off the main menu. It's a bit tight though.

May. And it really is an amazing game. Incredible how much atmosphere they squeezed out of the SNES.

Hey, I also favoured Super Star Wars :) Never even played Super Metroid on the SNES. I have a SNES pad for my Wii now though, so can play it as intended.

To answer your question, May 15 June 13 is Super Metroid month. After that it'll still be around, just more expensive. 30p is a fantastic price for it.

The Gamepad has a proprietary power cable unfortunately, not USB.

Should note, the actual connection on the gamepad is Proprietry,so you can't just use any old USB cable to charge it. Also, didnt know you could charge the pad via USB, is there even a cable in the box that fits the connector?

Edit: dammit! First DFawkes beats me to the punch, then Neilka.

A snes pad??? On the Wii???? With a d-pad as god intended!?! Does this work on the wiiu?

I am d-pad all the way on old school 2D platformers/adventures. Needless to say my fingers bleed playing on the 360.
