In comparison with where the PS3 and 360 were at this stage in their lifespan? I would say that - based on this knowledge - the WiiU has actually a greater library of games and roughly the same amount of hardware problems which need ironing out.
That's fair. I'd compare the wii u with the PS3 and 360 in terms of graphics etc in their first year.

Hopefully that means in 6 years the Wii U will be where those are now...
About to be replaced by something more powerful?

Back in the tin I'm afraid.

Give yourself £5 or ½ gig, you're worth it.

higgins78 wrote:Yes I’m a sock and yes I own a Wii U and it was the biggest mistake I’ve ever made purchasing an underpowered toy-like console from Nintendo. The games are fucking shit and the Gamepad has the build quality of an Etch-A-Sketch.

I suffer from having a split personality Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and every night we argue blaming each other for buying the Wii U. The only way to calm my other identity down is to go on Eurogamer singing the praises of Nintendo, their games and their consoles, even a madman knows the Wii U is shit.
I'm not mad and I think the Wii U is the best console ever.

Bit rubbish? The Wii U is an absolute pile of shit if you're PlayStation and Xbox fanboy’s.

I believe when Nintendo get round to releasing some decent software; many PS4 and the new Xbox early adopters will buy a Wii U as their second console. What I find strange is Traveller’s Tales have been working on Lego City Undercover for 3 years; what the fuck have Nintendo been doing over the same period?

Lets try to bring this thread back to a glimmer of respectability

Based on the last Nintendo Direct, where Aonuma talked about tackling the conventions of "playing by yourself" it seems the next Zelda might include Co-op play. How do you think that might play out? Is it something you'd even want?

I could envision the player with the wii-remote play Link running about a dungeon while someone playing as, perhaps Zelda herself, uses the gamepad to control how the dungeon plays out and which enemies you need to face. The skys the limit!

What worries me with Criterion’s take on the Wii U with Need for Speed Most Wanted (father and son mode) I hope we are not getting a dumbed down version of the original game? Most arcade racing games in the NFS Burnout type of genre have a learning curve; with some events challenges requiring several attempts to unlock the next level.

I don’t mind the ability to change or repair your car on the fly; but having the ability to remove oncoming traffic is contrary to what the game is about, the excitement of driving at speed towards oncoming traffic is what gives you a buzz the adrenalin rush.

As for multiplayer functionality in the Zelda series there is a multitude of possibilities; take the Wind Waker HD remake, a second player could take control of the AI characters in the relevant 2 player quests. The worst case scenario for a Zelda multiplayer title would be player 2 uses a microphone and every 2 minutes is prompted to say “Listen.”

'Father and son mode' is one of the creepiest mode names released by a PR division for quite a while. They might as well have gone with 'One-armed hostage and captor' mode.

If it's anything like 4 Swords that'd be awesome, but I think it'll be more like the 'multiplayer' in Mario Galaxy if anything.

I can imagine a split view Zelda game with the tv offering a 3rd person camera, whilst the game offers a top-down view of the immediate environment, like the old 2D games. Surely they can come up with a number of puzzles that require two perspectives.

Yeah, theres one in our local game. As you might expect, you cant really make anything out on the gamepad as its covered in a thick layer of grease and phlegm.

Hmm, good, at least they're getting them out there. I've not seen one on display in Bluewater which seems a bit odd.

Funnily enough, the demo pod is larger than the actual Wii U section in store.

The 'groomer and victim' mode hasn't really sold me the game. Once you've marvelled at the instant changes in game for ten seconds it will lose its lustre. I'm more interested to see its overall performance.

I'm surprised EG didn't have an article lambsting its sexism at excluding mothers and daughters.

Looking forward to Lego City the more I see of it.
