Annoyingly I didn't spot my Beta invite mail until late last night so only had a short chance to try it out, I enjoyed what little I managed though, agree with UncleLou in that screens don't do it justice and the pets looks great. Shame there was no Mac beta but ran like a charm on bootcamp on the MBP.

I've been so busy this weekend I didn't have time to get a good go on Diablo either what with server issues for a half-decent comparison, but of the two Torchlight 2 was the one I was looking forward to more, heres hoping it delivers.

as memory serves in the first game you could click once and so long as you kept the mouse button held down you'd keep attacking that same unit or you could hold shift I think it was and you wouldn't move at all regardless of where you clicked.

Shift-clicking certainly still works. Not sure about the other thing as I don't recall ever doing that before.

Well I played it just now and I can indeed 100% guarantee that clicking and holding the button down does work on the first game so give it a go it works quite well.

I just played this for a few hours and i'm very impressed. Beforehand I wasn't sure if i'd bother getting it as I stopped playing the first one after a little while but theres something about this one that makes it better than the original and keeps me playing for longer. Looking forward to it now!

Joys! the beta runs til tomorrow. :)

Since Diablo III isnt going anywhere thought I'd try a bit more Torchlight, like MatMan very impressed. Had a run with a outlander for a couple of levels then an engineer until lvl 12ish finishing off the first main quest and stumbling over a couple of side ones.

Definately moreish which is good and has a nice "heavy" feel to the melee combat, Normal difficulty feels less forgiving than Diablo III though not really played more than 2 hours so may be nothing more than my own incompetance.

What is performance like on mid/high end computers? I'm talking 4-5 year old notebooks and such. I've not had a chance to play the beta, so I've not been able to test whether or not one or two of my friends will be able to join me. :(

Anyone tested it on different spec machines yet?

My laptop's not quite that old (2 years or so) but it is hobbled by an integrated Intel graphics card. And it runs very well indeed - I had everything on 'high' aside from the anti-aliasing (which defaulted to off, so I left it there).

I take it there is no need to connect to the servers to play the SP

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

There is during the beta, but not in the full game. If I'm understanding it correctly.

I'll put it this way for those worrying about performance, my netbook could run the first game with a frame rate of about 20 fps in netbook mode. So if you have anything more powerful than that you'll be fine.

Yup, not long now, woo! This and Vita LBP are amongst my most eagerly anticipated games and they're out pretty much the same time :)

D3 was alright, but I fully expect to enjoy T2 more. Heck, I enjoyed Titan Quest much more than D3, so it's not saying much.

For people who already bought via Steam, you can now pre-load the game in preparation for the release next week. 1.4gb and you're set. And I'm set! \o/

I won't out him here without permission, but I surmise it's for review.

    Heh.

never actually finished the first one, but really looking forward to this. Diablo 3 didn't really work for me after completing it twice i couldnt bring myself to play through it two more times.

    Does it have a RMAH?

Thankfully there's at least one good Diablo game out this year.

Preloaded mine, really wish I could play it now though, gah!

Preferred Torchlight to D3, but to confirm whether I had a rose tinted view, went back for a quick blast this weekend. Nope, not rose tinted, I deffo enjoyed it more, which I can put down to three things - T1 had loads more character and was more memorable, decent loot wasn't epically far apart (thanks RMAH) and, less tangibly, I just think Torchlight was far better paced than D3. I think Blizzard just went too far refining the experience to bang bang bang with too little downtime.

worried that this may suffer due to a lot of people getting borderlands 2 instead.

Hmm, that's true, and it'd be a real shame.

Yeah. I'll definitely be getting TL2 on release day while I am not sure about BL2 at all, but it does seem a bit like an unfortunate release date. Their original plan of July/August was better, but if it wasn't finished, it wasn't finished, I guess. I am also a bit surprised by the lack of attention, this thread has a measly two pages.
