Just started playing this and loving it. (Put the lotion in the basket moment was a nice touch)

Played first on 360, totally different visual/ performance wise playing this maxed out at 1080p instead

Just getting back into this as I stopped somewhere in Act 2. Just beat the Siege Guardian.

I'm playing on Veteran - he was supposed to be tough, right? Only other ARPG I've played is the first game which I found too easy on Normal. Got one shotted a few times in that boss.

Yea it is far too easy on normal, I went for veteran. It is insanely difficult on the second playthrough through, for me anyway, other opinions may vary.

    Psn - Emperorzaphod
    Steam - Emperorzaphod
    Wii U - sirzapalot

I find I do fine for large portions on Veteran and then suddenly get fucking destroyed because I'm not watching my health closely enough.

I'm playing an outlander, basically just piling and fucktons of poison damage using the Glaive attacks and poison daggers. Don't even use my equipped weapons as I can drop most enemies in 1-2 attacks. Then use stone pact for healing and repulsion hex to keep enemies from swarming me.

It wasn't until Act 3 on Veteran that I found things got quite difficult for my Embermage. There were a few encounters where I died multiple times due to some overwhelmingly large mob numbers in combination with a boss that can CC you regularly.

Before that though, I don't think I even came close to dying in Act 1 and 2.

Yeah, some very specific and very robust builds notwithstanding (shield engineer comes to mind) the game does have quite a few nigh-instagib moments. Still, below Veteran is far too easy unless this game is ARPG boot camp for you.

I wouldn't recommend the very highest difficulty level in single player however.
It's certainly brutal but that's not the issue: some enemies - bosses in particular - can soak up such incredible amounts of damage while virtually one hit killing that the game revolves almost solely around 1) seemingle endless kiting and 2) measuring your amount of + timing of health pots. Everything else feels pointless or at least secondary.
I presume it can work well in multiplayer for a bunch of torchlight old timers though.
