    Skirmish can be fun but avoid Ambush, the spawn mechanics are utterly broken so you'll be spawn killed half the time, and the maps are too small so you'll be constantly killed by tanks the other half.

    Yeah, Ambush was a bit ropey but still ok. Made a character on release day but not played since - left it there to accumulate loadsa XP which I've had fun spending. Just needing ISK for skill books at the moment.

    Can anyone recommend a good introductory guide to skills and weapons? I've got a bunch of skill points, but don't really know what to spend them on in order to tune my soldier into a fun play style.

    What are some fun guns to use? I've been playing just the frontline class with the assault rifle, but have been eyeing up the mass driver. I usually like weapons that have a high rate of fire, lowish damage, but little recoil. Like the ATAC2000 from MAG.

    I had a look through the new star map last night, and it made me wish that this game eventually becomes what they want it to be. It's become a lot better than when I first logged on, but I reckon it's still got miles to go.

    There's very little difference between any of the weapon to be honest. They all have the same skin. Basically, if a weapon costs real money, it's FAR superior to the starting gear.

    Go for Caldari Logistics suits, they're hilariously overpowered, they have enough fitting slots to tank like a heavy and be as fast as a scout.

    There's many glaring balancing issues with the game, and you're not likely to notice the above issue before quitting, this is going to get slaughtered in reviews.

    I specced in to Assault Dropships when we had our skillpoints reset, little did I realize you can't aim the pilot's turret in first person meaning you have to fire it in third person and you can't see where you're aiming as the Dropship is in the way.

    @ResidentKnievel Apparently it takes 1.5 months using passive and active booster to get to a low level suit.

    12 months to get to the next tier.

    Who the fuck do they think is going to play that much to unlock a suit?

    Eve players. Obviously they are aiming at the long term corporation players who could obsessively max out the game early. Just makes it shit for low level casuals, which is what I would be.

    EVE players seem to be the only people enjoying it. From what I gather on the beta forums, most of them have never played an FPS before.

    All they needed to do was get the basics right. Make the shooting part fun and keep it simple at first. It's just awful though. Think of a pretty shonky FPS, then imagine it running at 20 odd FPS with a large helping of input lag.

    Instead, they have this absolutely BAFFLING level system that takes an AGE to get anywhere in.

    Deep fried shit, with a nice layer of diarrea to top it off.

    I can't help but think about my Planetside 2 sessions and think "oh this is a F2P MMO FPS done right".

    Skill books are going to be rebalanced and another respec is incoming, as it is now it's a far bigger time sink than EVE to get anywhere.

    You can be fairly effective in a Tech II (advanced stuff) Assault Frigate in a month in EVE, and that includes being able to equip tech II modules to it. A month of solid playing in Dust will get you about a million skillpoints, and that's not even enough to max out a basic suit never mind the skills needed to be able to use any modules on it.

    If they introduced a Minmatar Assault Dropship or Amarr Enforcer tank or Caldari Heavy suit right now, it would be at least two months before you saw anyone using one and they wouldn't be able to use it well.

    They've managed to make an FPS that's about 10 times more of a time sink and unfriendly to noobs as EVE is.
