I played about 20 minutes of this last night before bed. Not really sure what to think yet, most of the fighting takes place over long distances and I don't feel the level I played was especially well laid out. Visuals are decent (it's UE3) although the guns sound very wimpy, and if I'm totally honest playing this made me want to dig out MAG. I will play it some more this weekend though and give it a decent chance.
I'm not a big fan of meta-FPS' like Cod so I'm not too keen on the EVE style skill system, I'd rather have a level playing field.
But, once the game is actually released and there's a whole interconnected universe behind the game-play and an actual economy I'm sure my opinion will change.

took an age to down load then install then a nuder update then install then got in ....... fecking shite uninstall?? thank fuck it was free but wasted my gaming time. Graphics are ugly, laggy ok its a beta but its long time bin a beta so not impressed, just did not think was very good at all.
You've completely missed the point of being in a beta.

Played last night, didn't do a lot for me, but I will keep an eye on it.
Ok, I've been playing this for a while now.
I've left feedback on the official forums and so on.
Apart from the massive amounts of depth and customization this might be the worst FPS I've ever played.
Everything about the core mechanics is a complete disaster.

Stop mincing your words, how do you really feel?
I just cannot be arsed to play it
There's no reason to play it. Not when even the most half arsed FPS has more satisfying gun-play. Also, ENORMO maps ensure that you'll spend a greta deal of time running around in vacuous boring environments doing absolutely nothing.

Predictions for this? Do you think it'll end up moving to PC? If they fixed up the gameplay and it was a brilliant technical achievement, would anyone play it?
I love Eve and have sporadically spent lots of time on it, then burnt out and left it for ages.
My prediction: It'll be dead within 6 months.
CCP don't create good games, they create digital heroin.
EVE's parts are generally terrible, but put them all together and you get an addictive ball of horribleness.

That's really not going to cut it though. The game has no hook whatsoever. The battles and moment to moment combat feel disjointed and amateurish. You never really get a sense of a big conflict at all and there's just no satisfaction in the gun play.
Not to mention, there's a zillion assault rifles on the market. Yet, every single one of them looks and performs the same.

I'm still going to give Dust a chance when the full game is released, but so far I haven't enjoyed it.
I've tried to look beyond the crazy steep learning curve and attempted to just play. Now, I'm slightly better than average (IMO) at FPS', but the marketplace system has so far given me a distinct disadvantage. Because I find the loadouts and customisation so confusing I haven't been able to fully utilise it. Hence, I die... a lot.
I, too, find the maps huge with mostly one on one battles and I've not seen the benefits of the vehicles so far.
I'm sure when, or if, it runs a lot more smoothly the whole thing will be better, but it still feels like a good idea at the moment rather than anything concrete.
