Guess they will do an open beta, with more of the final assets in place.

    @fletch7100
They need to fix their servers first. Sometimes it even lags on the pre-game menus

Yeah I agree, this feels like a proper closed beta, older engine, quite a few assets missing. newer engine will be shown at E3. Not even a release date, so few more months to go

Want this to do well cos FPS MP have gotten so boring and stale on consoles. At least this is trying something new with the cross platform universe

Hating it as it stands at the moment. It positively encourages snipers, lost count how many times i've been gunning for an objective then only to be banjoed by an unseen enemy.Taking into account how CCP deals with balance issues,i.e EvE Online after 9 years the ships still aren't balanced i don't hold much hope.

Now if my my EvE toon can send my Dust toon Isk i will be happy because im a baljilionare in EvE and then ill never have to walk again.

You can get a beta key through Playstation Home.

Go to the Sony E3 area.

Complete the 12 tasks to get into the Dust area.

Play a game of Slay (It doesn't matter if you win or lose).

Watch all 4 short videos then go to the recruitment panel to collect your key.

Thanks for the info Prog. Spent ages actually winning Slay (funner than it looks and quite difficult for the first level) and watching all the movies I could see before realising that the recruitment guy wasn't who you were meant to speak to.

Annoyingly I can't download it as PS Store won't open for me. Is anyone else having this issue at the moment?

I might download home and give that a whirl later then. No interest in it at all, but for the sake of a Dust beta key I'll certainly spend a bit of time.

The guy says that but I'm not sure it's actually true. I did, but others say you don't have to. Try just watching the videos then going to the panel in that room (not the recruitment guy).

Just play a game of Slay and lose. Make sure you play it through to completion. Watch the videos then collect your beta key at the Dust 514 panel.

I've played a few games now and although there is plenty of work to be done with the engine and so on I think there's enormous potential in it.

I bought an assault rifle, some grenades and a few mines and created a custom load-out. After getting killed, I lost those items...it was a cool reminder that everything has a cost and shows how there'll be a market out there for custom weapons.

Also blew a ton of money on a LAV during battle...hehe...was fun though.

Got it downloading, but have other things to do for the time being.

Been a long while since I was in Home, UI has got a lot better. I actually started to get the hang on Slay!

    Maps are huge!

Trying to figure out what is what is hard at first, I find the map isn't as clear as something like Warhawk. Still, I shot someone and hacked a turret. I guess best way to learn ropes is to pick objective and defend...

I'll have to find some sort of controls/wiki to read. Any suggestions?

Sorry if it's been raised, but I wondered if anyone is looking to have an EG group on Dust 514 when it's out? Could be quite good to be working together from the start.

I'm sure there will be. I think it is a long way from release though.

I'm presuming there's no more room on the closed beta as I've got a beta key but I can't find the download in the PSN store.

Well I got in and it's exactly as I expected it to be, being a closed beta etc. I'll sink more time into it, but so far I don't really know what I'm doing and I'm not exactly new to FPS'. I like the look of it and some of the inaccessible stuff looks cool. Quite a steep learning curve, unsurprisingly.

Just bought the Mercenary Pack off PSN, with closed beta access and other goodies.

Looking forward to jumping on this weekend for the next round of beta'ing :)

There's a lot there. I think it's just as well it's free to play/download, because, as it stands, there's just so much to do/see/learn that it would put off many people imo.

That could also be a problem though, if people can't be bothered to figure out how to work it they'll have no qualms with deleting the game and never thinking of it again, seeing as they haven't invested any cash in it. Mind you not many of them would be likely to buy the game if it weren't f2p I guess. :-P

Didn't realise there was new update data to download.

@DanoFNG I think you're right. Plenty of people will give up. I'd imagine much of it is a case of it being closed beta. The final game should have in-depth tutorials and perhaps point players in the right direction in game modes. I'm still unsure what I'm doing in Ambush and by the looks of things, I'm not the only one.

I do think the upgrading mechanisms will put off many FPS players used to COD or BF. I'm open to the ISK/Aurum thing, along with the customisation options. I've found it difficult to grip the whole skills thing so far I've purchased items that I seemingly can't use yet. :)

    Nope! :)
But that was my point. I meant "should" as in I think CCP needs to put it in there, rather than they will.
