    is it possible to change the colour or font that my own text appears as in chat channels?
    I dont want to use java clients, though everyone on them is able to set their text to different colours etc, i cant.
    i must be seriously stupid cus i cant find this setting. i thought it would be one of the first things you'd be able to find.

    and if mirc actually doesnt allow this, is there a standalone irc client that does let you change the font of your own text?

    Jaysus. I haven't used mIRC in AGES, but I seem to recall there being some way this could be done...

    http://code.google.com/p/xchat-wdk/ is a decent free alternative if you get fed up of mIRC.
