Just announced by Konami. The MGS collection will include MGS 2, MGS 3 Snake Eater and Peace Walker. You can transfer your save file between the PS3 and PSP versions.
Also ZOE 1 and 2 are getting the HD treatment.

Seems nice. They're going to have trophies and stuff, plus all the 2D art and fonts are being redone in higher resolution. November for the MGS pack and 2012 for the ZOE one.

Peace Walker was stunning, it's a shame so few people got to play it. Glad it will now reach a wider audience.

Isn't November when the 3DS version of MGS3 is due to be released? I was planning on playing through them all in the right order so dont know how that will fit in. I might just wait for the 3DS one to drop in price whilst I finish the others.

Also, what is Zone of the Enders?

So download MGS1 off PSN, buy the collection in Nov and play through 2 and 3, then play the 3DS version for the added visual pizzazz if you are so inclined.

    Works perfectly I'd say.

And Zone of the Enders is Kojima's 'other' game. Well worth checking up on as it's hugely underrated.

As somewhat of an Achievement bum and a massive MGS fan, nothing is going to please me more than slamming 1000 Gamerscore on this beast. Definitely won't mind going to counselling after enduring Euro Extreme on Sons of Liberty again! The HD revemp won't hurt much either!

I've got mint copies of mgs2 and 3. Is this likely to affect their second hand price? I was hoping to sell em.

I've got the original versions too, never played the updated ones though.

Was gonna get MGS3D too, hmm. Dilemma.

It's not like I'd say no to any of those games but it's a bit disappointing that Metal Gear Solid isn't included. I guess it's too much work getting a PS1 game up to a standard where it won't stick out like a sore thumb in the collection.

No Metal Gear, no sale. I've been waiting ages for HD ports of classic games to come to the 360, but then they pull this crap. They've already remade Metal Gear for the cube, they could just have done some extra work on that version so it wouldn't have looked out of place.

I was kinda expecting Twin Snakes would be on there, seeing as its visually on par with MGS 2.

There's probably a lot of legal barriers preventing Twin Snakes from being part of the collection. It was developed by Silicon Knights after all, and was a GameCube exclusive so possibly has Nintendo's grubby paws involved somewhere. Probably too much work involved for a collection like this.

Another thing that people are spectulating about is that the main MGS theme might be removed from 2 and 3 due to the copyright issues surrounding it (apparently it was basically plagiarised from some Russian composer's work, and didn't feature in MGS4 for that reason).

Nintendo have the rights to Twin Snakes, that won't be appearing anywhere else. Ever.

Kojima and the upper echelons of Konami have really lost the plot if they think being able to transfer save games to a handheld is really a feature worth headlining and investing resources into.

Why play your games on one expensive setup? Play them on two! Flutter like an indecisive butterfly between them.

Why would I want to do that? I'll just play on the system I use regularly. I just don't see it having much appeal at all. File it alongside Nintendo's 'why not use a GBA to control your Gamecube games?'. No, thanks.

Played 1 loved it. Played 2 loved it even more. Then got a bit distracted and skipped over what was 3 (Twin Snakes? Resistance or whatever??). Bought 4 and haven't played it yet. I need to play 3 on something, PS2? GC? 3DS? PS3?

    Decisions decisions.

    Superb news!

Especially Peace Walker - found it impossible to play on the PSP so got nowhere with it. /controversial

Zone of the Enders? Is that really worth a remake?

Are any of them? MGS1 is still brilliant (not being remade) MGS2 is still pretty poor (HD or no HD)

I liked number 2 at the time. That main character had awfully tight buns.

There about 3 on ebay anyway so it's not like this release can make there second hand price get much lower. Im actually halfway through playing the second on at the moment. I might stop now and start again when this comes out. This is a day 1 for me but im a bit gutted there's no MGS1 in there. Doesn't feel like a full collection without it.
