When's Windows 8 coming out, btw? I'm still on Vista, but might just wait for Lucky 8 instead of moving to Indifferent 7!!!

Late next year most likely, but there are already betas out there and a whole slew of release candidates on their way.

They said that about Star Trek Movies, but the trend reversed.

Truth is, there are no good Star Trek movies.
  • Deleted user 2 June 2011 13:38:21
Except for the one where they save the whales.

Isnít it more like FIFA where one version they try and do a load of new things that donít quite work, then the next version they actually get those things working properly, or strip them out again.

Anyway, I really like Windows 7. Don't see the need to upgrade.

I'll put it on my tablet cos it's got a touch screen, but I don't see the point in it for anything much else.

I like win 7 too but it's apparently pretty shit for tablets. I'm probably going to get one of those within a year so I might get a win 8 tablet.

    Good story.

    Come and get it cumslingers!

    A bit more high res.

I honestly think making an OS with touchscreen/tablet functionality like that will fuck the market. You'll get things developed for tablets that are next to useless on desktops (and vice versa), but they exist within the same marketspace.

They should do an entirely separate tablet OS, in my opinion.
  • Deleted user 2 June 2011 13:44:54
It's a separate interface, no reason it can't be integrated.

Lion manages it pretty well, although it's not touch screenfocused

Win8 is also going to be able to run on ARM, isn't it? Thing touch screen obsession to do with an attempt to harmonise Windows across different platforms, I wonder? (e.g. windows phone and PC running sort of the same thing basic thing)

I think tablets are the worse type of gimmick. You want one like nothing else because it's all futurey, but you use it for 5 minutes, get OCD about the screen being all smeared up with your grubby pawprints and go back to using a mouse.

That said, I like mine, but I only use it for drawing with the stylus.

They are really good for internet browsing though. That's about the only thing I like about them.

Not that it really needed confirmation but still: Win8 on ARM not backwards compatible.

Well, that's hardly surprising really. It would be like putting a 360 game in your PC's DVD drive and expecting it to play.
