@Tom_Servo with regards to Sansa little finger and Sam, the last two books were originally meant to be one but instead of having the second book continue the timeline of the first he separated the characters so one half of them was one book the other held the others (hence having no Jon In the book previous
I get that, but the timelines converge around halfway through Dance. There are chapters from Feast characters after that, but not Sansa or Sam for some reason.

    Probably.
This is it. American TV does it a lot too. Unless you actually see someone die, they're still alive. It's the golden rule.

Martin does employ it a bit too much though. I fell for it the first couple of times (Theon 'killing' Bran and Rickon and putting their heads outside Winterfell), but by the time we were told Davos' head was on a spike with an onion in its mouth I was just waiting on his chapter.

John's not dead though. He's the heir to the Throne of Westeros.

LB, you really are a massive geek.

So the Hound isn't dead either?

Following this logic, an army of undead lead characters is forming!

The funny thing is, the logic may be right.

Yeah the story moves on in the time line around the last few chapters of Dragon.
A Sansa chapter was removed from Dragons and will be in WoW.

Any hints as to when Winds of Winter is due out? All Ive seen is 2014.

The Tv show is sure to catch up.

Maybe they will do a spinoff in a few years to stall for time.

The Tales of Dunk and Egg series is said to be getting a TV show but they have ruled out a prequel.

I always get the Hound and the Mountain mixed up, but I'm pretty sure the Hound is one of the monk-types at that place Brienne goes to. Sorry, that's really vague. Brienne turns up at that place and the leader talks to her, telling her "The Hound is at peace" and whatnot.

    The Mountain is now Bane.

I think he is dead right now (stabbed about four or five times by a group of people who wanted him dead - I'm not sure how he's getting out of it unless Ghost turns up and kills everyone), but I wouldn't be surprised if Melisandre has something to say about it. Her doing the shapeshifting with Mance and Rattleshirt suggests she has some very powerful, erm, powers at her disposal that we're only just beginning to learn about.

Either that or he becomes Ghost like the wildling warg in the opening chapter, but that would be shit.

Or the giant saves him. (Plus a little Melisandre help).

My guess is the added scene in S3 of her meeting Dondarrion is a nod to what's going to happen with Jon.

Also yes its most likely The Hound is hiding at the monastery that Brienne goes to and Stranger is also seen and its been said only The Hound could ride him.

Didn't realise there was a thread!

I doubt Jon is dead/warg/zombie as there just seems too much for him to do in the story, especially if it was hinting at his dragon blood. Hopefully Melisandre had something prepared after realising that Jon wasn't taking her warning seriously enough.

Who would want to be a commander of the watch after this and what happened to the Bear, though?

I'd thought that the Hound might actually be dead, but you guys are probably right. If you're not in an epilogue or prologue then your chances aren't too bad!

I would guess that, with the Night Watch without a leader and nobody particularly keen to lead, they turn in on themselves, kind of like what happened at Crasters and enjoying their freedom without adhering to their duties. When next thing you know, the White Walkers come, some magic brings down the Wall (the horn is still there right?) and everyone's slaughtered, leaving the White Walkers free to march on Westeros. The irony being that the Nights Watchmen and Wildlings who doubted Jon may have had a better chance of survival (even if it still is slim) if they had taken his offer to march south with him.

I think you're both right, in that he becomes King Warg of Westeros and marries the Hound.

The Wall falling would be an amazing spectacle. I imagine the real horn is likely to turn up at some point, either way.

On a completely unrelated note, I don't think Young Griff/the baby who didn't meet the Mountain is likely to get all that far just because of how late he entered the running. Bit like Darwin Award of Dorne. Anyone notice anything about that group that might be more promising?

Was there not a horn that Jon or Sam found in the snow a long time ago? It was the one wrapped up in the black cloak with the dragon glass dagger.

Did anyone ever blow Mance's horn (WAHEY!) that he had in the tent? I'm pretty sure that was just a gambit, but I guess you never know.

The only other horn I can think of is the one Euron has that was blown at the Kingsmoot and promptly killed the guy who had blown it.

    IIRC, there's 3 horns:

The once Mance claimed was the Horn of Winter (to bring down the Wall) that he later admitted was a fake after Melisandre burned it. Never used.

The one found with the dragonglass on the Fist of the First Men, which could be the actual Horn of Winter. Never used. Can't remember who actually has this at the moment - Sam?

The alleged Dragon Horn that Euron possesses which might control dragons, which definitely has some magic in it. Killed the guy that blew it at the Kingsmoot.

Did Jon find the stuff on the Fist? I'm pretty sure he did. In which case you would think he would remember the mysterious horn he found that time after being told about a horn that can supposedly bring down the Wall.

Do you actually have to blow it by the Wall, or could someone in the Citadel have a go (if that's where it currently is)?

Talking of the Citadel, it's been a while since that mysterious prologue.

    Who knows?

Maybe the rumoured Faceless Man at the Citadel will steal it from Sam to bring down the Wall so Death can claim the world?
