So I had a go on multiplayer last night.

Ran around a lot trying to keep up with my squad. Shot into the air and some trees a bit. Didn't see any enemies. Spent the whole time confused.

    Business as usual then. :)

@Dirtbox Yeah it's definitely moved more towards the battlefield side of things. Not completely mind, there is a touch of 'simness' there, but it's a massive, massive improvement.

When I work out how to claim my alpha keys I'll sling one your way.

It works better on my PC than I was expecting, not great but considering how under powered it is in the CPU department it was a pleasant surprise.

Time to plan my birthday present to myself with a big upgrade.

@Whizzo what are your specs mate? I'm wondering if it will run on my core 2 duo 8400 3.0ghz , 4gbs RAm and a hdd 4870

C2Q9400@3.2Ghz, 8gig RAM, 2gig 6950, installed on a Crucial M4 SSD, using autodetect settings at 1920x1080, it was running around 25+ FPS in the infantry section (which isn't fantastic but it was playable) but performance fell off a cliff when trying to drive a vehicle in first person.

Probably not going to run that great on your set up.

Is the Alpha multiplayer co-op or PvP?

I think there's both, but I've only played the co-op so far.

Cool, I'm only interested in co-op. Will grab this later.

@Apollo I'm running it on a slightly less powerful CPU than you but with a HD 6870. I get 30+ fps with no units loaded, drops to about 20 when stuff is going on.

It's prettier than ARMA 2 and runs better. It's probably less buggy than ARMA 2 was on release too!

Still, doesn't stop them binding both right rudder and weapon fire to the right trigger on the Xbox pad. Which is exactly what they managed to do in Take On Helicopters. I'm going to have to rebind the controller to my preferred settings.

Speaking of rebinding, Gear is no longer bound to 'G'. Gear is now on 'I' and 'G' will toss out your current grenade selection. It may take you a while to adjust...

I don't think it's any less of a sim in fact they've added more detail to it, they've just polished it far more than ever before and the polish will make it more playable than previous. I would add that it'll never be as immediate as Cod or Battlefield.

Yeah the simulation is not a bad thing. It feels like a really good balance.

I was running indoors earlier which is a new experience :D

Is the 25 euro price just a pre order deal? Is the price going to go up on full release? Should I purchase now?

So - not knowing much, if anything about PC gaming and last having played on Operation Flashpoint Red Hammer back in 2003 probably.....would I be able to run this on my laptop?

Its a i7 2.4Ghz, 8GB RAM, 2GB Geforce GT555m graphics card and has many USB ports....

Would love to fire this up again, as Dragon Rising was pish, and although Red River is quite good on PS3 its just not the same dammit.

Simple question: can you run Arma2 on that laptop? If so, you're probably ok, though don't expect to run it at super-high settings.

@Nexus_6 Was it still within it's use-by date? If not then it will will be more brittle when it sets.

    In other news,

BIS might need to fudge the physics on some units:

I really need to open up my PC and find out what RAM I actually have. I'm up to my neck in CPU cores(6) but I only have 4gb of RAM.
