I posted this in the swapsies thread, might be of use here:

Would anyone by any chance be interested in Nintendo points? I've got some unopened packs lying around, and at this stage I'm unlikely to use them, so would rather exchange them for funds to use on the 3DS' eShop. Remember, if you still have a DSi you can buy stuff using points on that, and then transfer to 3DS. I can't do that as I don't have a DSi.

I've got 2 x 3000 points cards. PM if interested.

Bugger, I've just realised why I was having so much trouble getting into my club nintendo account - sometimes it would work, and sometimes not, and resetting my password usually told me 'this email address is not associated with an account'. I've just realised that the only time it worked was clicking a link from an email, and the rest of the time I was going to club.nintendo.com - which is the American site, and doesn't seem to share the same backend database at all. Hopefully I can now link my 3DS to my account, but I'll have to wait until I get some wifi access to check.

Club Nintendo.com users get 40 coins for linking to the eShop.

What do .co.uk users get? You guessed it, fuck all.

Give yourself £5 or ½ gig, you're worth it.

Coins? Don't nintendo use stars and points (for the old shops, currency for the new one)?

Yep, 100 stars, which given I was 100 stars away from a points card for a Wii game I fancied is greatly appreciated :)

When you log in, in the "My Account" section click "Stars Balance".

In a box titled "Recent activities" you should see something like this:

Nintendo 3DS / Club Nintendo account link

I had no problems myself. I don't mean to sound like i'm accusing you of idiocy or anything, but have you tried loging into your Club Nintendo account on the nintendo website since trying to link it to the eShop?

Yeah but I had to reset and change my password, it may be related to that.

Right, I've figured out which club nintendo site to use now, and I've reset my password, and I'm 100% sure now of my email address, username and password, so I go to try to connect my 3ds account and my stars account. 'Wrong credentials,' it says. 'Please go to the club nintendo website and reset your password,' it says. So I go to the club nintendo UK website, and what do I get? 'Error 503, website unavailable,' that's what I get. For fuck's sake, Nintendo!

Same here. I stopped registering cards then, so I've still got a few left over from the Cube and GBA. I'm gonna see if I can still register them for stars now.

When I try to link my Club Nintendo account on the eShop it says my email and/or password are incorrect, even though I can log into the site with them no bother.

Probably what teh Sony should have done to be honest:

    European Nintendo website phishing possibility
We have learnt of a possible phishing threat to users of the European Nintendo website which we are currently investigating. The protection of our customers is our utmost priority and so we have taken the precaution of immediately shutting down some parts of this website until further notice. We would like to reassure you that we do not hold our customer’s bank, credit card or address details on the European Nintendo website and so this data is not at risk.

Phishing is when someone attempts to find out your personal information, such as usernames and passwords, by pretending to be a trustworthy person or company in an electronic communication such as an email or via a website.

We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused. Please do get in touch with your local Nintendo Customer Services if you have any further concerns.

That's going to be fun for them to investigate. I've reset my password twice and tried to guess it many times, and I bet there are loads of other people if I'm not the only person having trouble. I'm not a hacker, honest - I'm just trying to get back into my account!
