What exactly was launch price though? I got my 3DS for £160 on launch day, would have been around £180 without my staff discount. That's not that bad.

    Get bent.

And the price has being piledrived down even more. You can pick up a 3DS for about £150 - which for a brand new handheld is pretty good.

Early adopters always have to accept they pay over the odds. I can't see the problem. We chose to buy it brand new - yes, I may have paid an extra thirty quid. But I've had lots of fun since I got it - so really, I'm not that fussed.

Zelda next week. I'm such a Zelda fanboy...

    :)

Regarding the price, well yes, indeed, early adopters do pay more, but I was more approaching the issue that not so many people actually were early adopters, and with PSP2 launching so soon and at such a competitive price, with quite superior hardware too, were does that leave Nintendo and the 3DS?

Well, end of the year gives Nintendo quite a head start. :)

Anyway, I like the Vita and the price point and I can't see it being anything other than good news - you'll have the 3DS, which will probably drop in price further by the end of the year (largely driven by the retailers it would appear). I wouldn't be shocked to see it at £129.99 by Xmas, and that will make the Sony vs Nintendo handheld wars very interesting indeed.

Sony used to do this like Nintendo, actually - the tech wasn't superb, but it was cheaper and easier to handle. Vita - let us all be honest here - is going to be making hefty losses at that price point. This is Sony desperately trying to get penetration into the market, whatever the cost, whatever it takes. Nintendo have goaded Sony into this and bang, the fight is on but Sony are already one down.

It leaves the 3DS exactly where the DS was with the PSP - it's the cheaper alternative. It's pretty enough, does all you want it to do and will by the time Vita goes live likely be half the price.

I want the Vita to do well, I'll be getting one. But I suspect we'll get into one of those business vs tech debates soon and I've been up for 22 hours now and can't be arsed to preempt them.

Tried to download excite bike 3D before leaving for work but failed. I kept getting error/maintainence messages.

I did however get to watch a Zelda OOT trailer in 3D for the first time and now I'm REALLY excited!!!!

Store is working fine for me, got my download of excite bike, anyway.

E-shop seems quite nicely designed and easy to use, everything seems fairly self-explanatory.

Strange that the DSiware section is a 'best of' at the moment rather than all of it. Shantae: Risky's Revenge is the pick of the bunch (but pricey at over a tenner) but there's also Mario vs DK and Plants vs Zombies, if you're one of the three people who don't own it already.

I like this eShop thing, but I do wish you could add £5 - it seems the minimum is a tenner. Not that I mind, I'll be spending plenty on this :)

That is a bit strange, when the GB stuff is well under a fiver!

ooh, edited on the 3DS browser, very nice.

Indeed! Not a huge issue, but I only wanted Mario so have lots left.

Mario Land buttons feel wrong. I think they're the opposite way to the Game Boy, or maybe it's just the fact they're not almost horizontally aligned. Still awesome though.

Yeah, it's because the 2 bottom face buttons are on a harsher angle than the original GB. Soon get used to it, if I can play the DS Castlevania games, playing Mario Land is going to be a doddle!

Oooh had 30 mins before work and used that time to have a 10 second blast on excitebike which is harder then I remember, pokedex which looked quite nice and the browser, which was fairly standard. Watched the video for zelda, was nice to see it finally in 3D despite the video running at a lower resolution

Shite! I thought you could use Nintendo Points Cards as currency. I hope they add these new 3DS cards to the Club Nintendo catalogue, I've 2600 points to spend.

I'm very impressed that Excitebike runs full screen. If you roll the 3d off it gets even bigger as it cuts out the sky and some foreground stuff. Very cool. Leaderboards are awesome. As is the save state bit.

I so want to transfer my DSI stuff but I'm scared.

Well I'm not impressed by the web browser there's no 3D what so ever. The 3D light even goes out as soon as it loads, plus it's almost as slow as DSi browser.

And why in the eShop are all the game images in 2D!!

Probably because browsing in 3D using wifi would suck the battery in about 2 minutes flat. Also, Web sites are not generally in 3D no?

I find it rather pointless comparing the Vita and 3DS price points. They are totally different systems with exclusive games. Buy them if you want to or don't. I shall have them both.

Pokedex 3D is pretty good, I put up those AR symbols on my computer monitor and had 4 pokemon up in AR mode, I don't know what the maximum is.

Just imagine battling other peoples pokemon by throwing down your AR card.

Jeez, the browser sucks. Should have been like a mobile type browser for speed and stuff. Ah well, I didn't buy it to browse the internet...

Loving Excitebite - for free too!

One question - where the heckins is Cave Story in the EU eshop? I can't find it!

Don't think Cave Story was ever released in the EU DSi store, unfortunately.

How much is Mario Land, btw?

The browser is weak, but it lets you view 3d images which is quite neat. I chucked together this (nsfw) site a while back and forgot about it, but if you click the pictures it shows them on the top screen in 3D.. which is at least one redeeming feature of the browser, I think it's the same browser built into the PSP/PS3.
