Massive update in the guise of 1.05 just hit, it seems. Far, far too much to post here, but - sharks! Crabs! Hotkeys! Rocket Boots nerf!

    Oh, wait. Bah!

Anyway, it's been a while since I played since I collected everything back in 1.02 or whatever. Should probably start a new world now...

A lot of the new stuff is probably best experienced in a new world. Now, do I go in naked or do I take some shinies with me?

Hi, I picked up the game during the steam sale, there are a couple of things I can't figure out.

If I have different types of arrows (wood, fire, jester), How do I know which type I am going to fire. Also the Hot key H how do I know which health potion its going to use?

I have it now, top left of the inventory is priority.

patch 1.6 is out now so going to give this some more love. Really cleaned up some issues with the interface so much better.

    Fav's
    -extra inventory space for ammo.
-hotkey for grapple hook (don't even have to have on the hotbar)
-dedicated inventory bin (for getting rid of dirt stacks)
-Extra options for interacting with storage chests

Still have alot of play left for me as I haven't even tried to tackle a boss yet.

How is this compared to Minecraft then? Is it comparable?

Much more "gamey" and less sandbox-y than Minecraft. Think of this as an arcade game and Minecraft as a deep RPG and you'll get the idea.

Not knocking Terraria at all - it's great. Lacking in the endgame, but a fun trip to get there.

Agreed, it is much more fun and less daunting than Minecraft but the 2D & systems are more limited, pretty though. If they hit the right mark with the PvP it could explode.

Got this about a week ago and been playing it on and off - it's fantastic!

I've got full iron armour and nearly enough to make full silver armour. Found the Lucky Horseshoe and Starfury on floating islands and just made a depth gaugeand grappling hook.

    God this is addictive!

I've made it all the way to Hell where I died almost instantly. It only takes about 30 seconds of falling to get there.

There's little in common other than the ability to dig and build and craft things. This is more of a sandbox adventure-rpg game where you make your own story.

Been playing more of this, now I've got the jungle armour and I've managed to kill the eater of worlds a couple of times! Next for me is trying to get into the underworld.

Do you like Metroidvania games with a silly crafting element and a minecraft element?

I really enjoy it, tho'. And they've been committed to slowly updating it, but generally their updates have large amounts of content when they do hit.

Well this game certainly has me by the short and curlies again.
The last time I played it was very basic, only 3 bosses, i.e. the eye, eater and skeletron. Now there are loads, also loads of new materials and things to make.
I kind of prefered it when it was a simpler game but I'm not complaining, I just find it a little duanting. But hey it's free and it doesn't really interefere with how I play anyhway.

Up to 12, the PvP games are really fun.

Just a reminder that version 1.2 was released yesterday and is a MASSIVE update. You can see a list of the changes and additions here:

    1.2 Changes

This update is FREE for existing Terraria owners, and a mere 5.99 for anyone new to the game:

Cool. I weirdly started playing this again the other day as well. Really like this game, there should be more like it.

Wow, Terraria (PC version) is still at number 3 on Steam's top sellers list - that's quite something. Very impressive.

The 1.2 update is incredibly good (in fact, it's fantastic).

I still haven't got round to playing this properly. Anyone fancy a co op game?

    @andytheadequate

I would like to try this Andy . I played this a year ago on single player, but would like to try co-op.

I'm on Steam a few evenings a week but with a wife and kids I have trouble guaranteeing playtime.
